Our club
« on July 13, 2024, 09:29:10 am by Ryaldinhio »
Been sat thinking this morning and what a turn around our club has made, promotion will hopefully be the cherry on the cake.

We now have an owner/chairman who is engaged, a top management team, a strong squad, a full preseason together not half a dozen trialists, Portugal trip looks like players are being pushed, a proper medical team so we don't have physio room full, looking to the future with contract renewals, can't help but get excited about what's to come.

Personally hoping I bump into Terry one match day so I can shake his hand and thank him. Feel like we have our club back after a few awful years.

Terry/Gavin/Grant - take a bow.

We are going up this season. 100% we are imo.
I also am very confident we will be Champions.

You are right, since Blunt stepped down the change in everything at the club has been for the positive.
We have a club now that has the same ambitious feel that it had 20 years ago under JR

I am convinced if we keep GM as manager and I think we will this time then we are on the way back to the championship.

The next renewals I want to see and definitely earned:
1.Grant/Cliff
2.Ironside

We are in a great place right now and long may it continue.

I think Blunt”s role as intermediary was a big mistake and my impression is he sought to justify his existence to TB by blunting many requests for funding .Moreover he was never charismatic nor did he convince he was a real fan either .
Terry Bramall is perhaps discovering the real potential of the club for himself first time .

If we cast our minds back, plans were in place before Blunt officially left.

Last season we had the unusual step of Terry announcing the additional funding that was to go directly into the playing budget, seemingly eliminating Blunt from the equation. This was after S_M had hinted this was on the cards well before we saw evidence of TB making his move.

It took a little more time for Blunt to be relieved with Terry announcing he was taking over as Chairman. He then explained how this came about at the Meet the Owners event, saying he was genuinely excited. You could see he meant it.

We recall when he was challenged from the audience about 'other' investment coming in, when rumours of Eco Power we abound. He politely refuted the suggestions and when pushed said "I have sufficient wealth to make this club successful " or something very similar. He gave the impression he put great trust in GM to move the club forward.

Since then, we've seen him being more proactive, spending more time on the job and turning up at Gillingham etc. I think he's been to Portugal too??

So yes, I think during this last 12 months, he's become more excited by the potential and who wouldn't be encouraged by the response from the fans during that great run to the play offs.

This is quite rare in football, when everyone at the club are singing from the same hymnsheet, so let's enjoy it and let the good times roll.

Why does someone with a never ending contract need a contract extension?

Maybe he means better terms?

Baldwin and Terry have been in Portugal think Terry came with his wife also, there is some pictures of Terry talking to the players no idea what was said but that is probably best staying within the group. Also think Baldwin was on one of the training videos chatting to the coaches so clearly wasn’t just a quick fly in fly out show my face.

Long may it continue and hope we get what we deserve

Baldwin would have had to be here for Bailey’s contract extension.

I think Terry did a presentation to the squad to outline his/ the Club’s plans going forward.

All very upbeat at the moment, let’s hope it carries on when the games start.

Why is GM on a never ending contract? My understanding was we ditched the rolling contract and he had signed on for 3yr contract?????

I don’t remember seeing that anywhere. I think I heard that more protections had been built in for the club which sounds sensible and will likely be bolted into the very much misunderstood rolling contract.
