Top 3 .
Just as a side note, me and my good buddy had a £40 double a few weeks ago on us and Rotherham to get promoted, it’s paying just short of a thousand pounds.
The same bet now is just over £450.
If the bookies are confident, I’m confident.

When it comes to number crunching, I will count “Top 3” as 3rd.

I had a treble on Blades Rotherham and Donny to get promoted by any means. At the time it was 142/1 , same bet is now 67/1 . Our odds and Rotherham odds have come down loads with the transfer business done by both.

I still think we will bring in another couple of players even if loans, I can't see Grant not signing anybody in July and August I just don't think that will happen once he's had a good look at the squad.

1. MK Dons
2. Port Vale
3. Us

4. Carlise
5. Notts County
6. Gillingham
7. Colchester

Chesterfield not in top 7
Think they have a strong squad.  If you’re right the bookies have got that one very wrong.
Can’t see Colchester being that high.
There is usually at least one surprise so we will see.

I think Chesterfield will just miss out but wouldn't be surprised to see them in the top 7. I think there will be a surprise package to sneak in play offs and only gone with Colchester because they've done some alright recruitment this summer.

2nd. A very strong start, maybe taking a decent lead at the top but dropping off later on as other teams get their shit together.

Top 7 prediction.
I will make another before the 1st game as any new transfers may change my mind.
Previously I had Notts County 2nd but with their transfer of the top league scorer in League 2 Langstaff to Millwall I have dropped them to 4th place.

1) Doncaster Rovers
2) MK Dons
3) Chesterfield

4) Notts County
5) Port Vale
6) Gillingham
7) Carlisle United

I don't know why the bookies have Gillingham on shorter odds than us, maybe its a pro-southern bias or the fact they have an American co - owner.  6th or 7 th is the best they can hope for imho.

Albeit with some monumental results, we finished in the play off places last season. Looking at this squad and with McCann and Cliff fully embedded, it would take something really significant for us not to at least match that this season. In fact, only McCann and Cliff leaving mid-season would be of the magnitude to do this. League Two is probably a touch weaker this season than last as well. Terry has given us the best squad of players we actually own since 2019. There should be no reason we don’t finish well this season.

I like the Colchester shout.

Jack Payne and Lyle Taylor could be very good signings.

Always a bit sceptical about alot of the YouTubers pre season predictions but here's one where they've done their research. Quite a long video but you can skip along. They have us in 3rd and many I've seen have us between play offs and Champions.

https://youtu.be/CvEZHQdAgg8?si=NbnhAXLLOHo6k7PF

Since our 4-0 win over Hull, Radio Sheffield and Yorkshire Post are bigging us up for success too.

I'm reserving judgement until I see how we perform defensively particularly at set pieces where we've not really been tested yet. I was hoping to see how  Sharman Lowe performed on Tuesday with his ability to take crosses, but he had very little to do.

I note Middlesbrough beat Gateshead 1-0 with a headed goal from a set piece cross the other day, so maybe we'll see that test that we're likely to see plenty of during the season.

Totally agree, Baz. I've predicted 3rd, but still have niggling doubts about our defence, and their ability to defend crosses.

Football isn’t really a science, but to the extent it is, our squad is stronger than last season, and the league overall is a touch weaker. All things being equal, we should finish at least as high again.

But it’s never that simple, is it…

If I back Rovers it normally means the kiss of death but I honestly can't see a stronger squad in this division. Bit worried about the midfield but with the momentum we have now it would be nothing short of a calamity if we don't get automatic promotion. What the hell, I'll go for Champions!
There you go, kiss of death.

Champions.
I share some concerns around our key defensive duo of Anderson and Woods regarding any potential injuries. However we seem to have cover with the likes of Olowu and McGrath, and if anything long term crops up, this is where I believe Grant will use the loan market for a specific “high cost loan”
I can also see Joe being in the starting 11 where the opponents central strikers have pace.
This is the first time in a number of years where I cant identify any serious shortcoming in the squad, our worst nightmare is that we lose Owen Bailey soon, this lad is class so someone is bound to come knocking on the door, with an offer Owen could not turn down.

Champions.

I believe we are the team that other clubs will not be looking forward to playing. As we've strengthened, we now have a squad of players, I can't pick a starting 11 from.

The strength of the summer signings will have to compensate for the 3 January (departed) loanees to give us a chance of the title. And again, it would depend on there being no force stronger than was present in L2 last season.

I think if it were my own money I was risking and I had to commit now, I’d plump for a near miss on the top 3 and re-assess (when the odds might not be as good) after I’d seen some of the opposition.

But perhaps being cautious is not really playing the game!
