We played ok but it wasn’t against their first team was it. Lots of positives but can’t read much into friendlies.

Any links to the goals?
The fact it wasn’t Hull’s first team is as irrelevant as the shoreline. At times, Hull were stuck in the sand!
I thought we were very good last night, hungry and fit - pressing hard up the pitch, lots of quality on show - Hurst, Bailey, Ironside and Gibson look absolutely excellent.Enjoyed that, squad looks strong and deep - really fancy our chances of top 3 this year.

I think we will.Yes i know I am getting ahead of myself but there are no squads as good as ours in league 2 imo.We have 2 players for every position without weakening the team to any considerable degree. I saw enough last night to tell me we are going to be a Champions or very close contenders in this league.Hull may not have had their strongest team last night but that doesn’t matter. We are a team playing like a well oiled machine and we have another 2 pre season games to play yet. I have never been so confident in previous seasons as I am right now that we will get promoted this season.
We've played Stamford, Darlo, Spennymore and effectively Hull U18's. It's all about fitness but I wouldn't be reading too much into anything we've seen yet, or any pre-season game for that matter. It's going to be a tough league again and we're going to have to be really good and start well to be Champions. Gillingham, MK, Port Vale, Notts County, Carlisle, Salford, Chesterfield etc. etc. all looking decent on paper. Can Bradford finally get their act together? Will there be another surprise package like Barrow/Crewe/Crawley last season who end up challenging? Don't bet against it.

Surely that's an exaggeration, as apparently that academy side are playing tonight.Fringe players would surely be a better description.
My take on it is a great work out against a pretty poor Tigers side. We dominated midfield with Bailey and Broadbent hardly putting a foot wrong, I would say that's the best performance I've seen from Broadbent, he sat in and let Bailey forage forward occasionally and was rewarded with two excellent goals.Hurst was a different class up the middle and was a pain in the ass for their defenders, harrying them constantly, and he was rewarded with that lovely chip over their goalie after dispossessing a defender, a lovely cool finish.Joe did what Joe does and was in the right place to tuck his goal away from a lovely pint point cross on the floor from Sterry was it?A special mention for McGrath, I thought he looked excellent on the ball, calm, assured, did things the simple way, and his distribution to the wings and into mid-field I thought was really good. Very impressed with him on this showing.Gibson looked a good player, as did Sbarra and Yaboah when they came on, both really quick and direct. Tom Nixon looked a completely different player from last season, Christ he was quick, in one occasion he received a moving ball on the right, pushed it past the oncoming player turned on the after burners and just left him for dead, and excellent piece of skill, he had a really good game when he came on. Not much to say about Billy, scuffed a left foot shot wide of the post and generally just harried their defence into getting rid of the ball quickly. He'll come good as we all know.I can only say I enjoyed that showing from our lads, we looked incredibly fit, quick and organized all over the pitch. Looking forward to what this team does this season.

Anderson, Close and Westbrooke out again. Wood on bench, so assume Bailey is playing CB with Olowu?Still no sign of Harry CliftonDoesn’t look so bad on the missing quarter but potentially they won’t be starting against Accrington. McCann said: "I just want to get them back. I think Ben and Harry will be on the grass on Thursday to start their rehab and come back to fitness. Zain is probably a few days after that."Tom will have an injection in his back just to settle the pain which I imagine will take a week to ten days to settle down so once they come back we feel like we're strong."
