So will those shares be reassigned to TB or A N Other?

Don’t think he will be missed will he. His arrogance towards the fans at meet the owners event was a disgrace. Glad he’s no longer affiliated with our club in any capacity.

That is a very short statement to say how long he has been here. I wonder if there were any awkward discussions before he left?

His shares could be cancelled. It would be an easier and cheaper way to deal with them - if he agreed.

If normal commercial values applied, the worth of shares will have fallen very markedly under his leadership. SM may be honestly welcoming his departure now, but I wonder if more could have been done to make clear the views of the fans/company customers during the time he oversaw the decline. It might have persuaded him to resign the Chair sooner.

How is this better .. what is the options open for the long term for the club . Clearly a one man owner  can’t ( in his 80s) be looking to continue for many seasons without a plan B . I very much doubt when Terry joined the club he had envisaged this and be the only person fully responsible for the survival of what is now ‘Club Doncaster’ and all this entails. Q) why has no one ever publicly wanted to get involved in investing as possible owner !

Just said the same, very strange end to his tenure.

Wording on loans is also a bit ambiguous- did he waive them or was he paid

I think we know Terry doesn't wash his laundry in public,  and David Blunt was one of oldest colleagues at the least. For SM and the club to phrase it as they have speaks volumes I think

I find it odd that many who defended his 'leadership' for so long are rejoicing at this.

I wonder at what point in our decade of decline people realised he was part of the problem?

We've been very careful over the last few years to ensure that the survival of the club was paramount. Its my belief that if a free hand was given to DB he would have continued to run the club down, something we couldn't and wouldn't accept.

Therefore we worked hard internally on supporting TB and GB to make the changes that have been welcomed by DRFC supporters. In our discussions with the club it was obvious where the problems lay, and it was also obvious where the solutions lay as well. You have to be careful not to throw the baby out with the bath water.

Not having DB involved in any capacity even as a shareholder is good for the club. Everything else you have written is a separate issue to that and only something Terry can answer

No disrespect to Terry, but he is knocking on a bit, I would hope there are plans for the future to ensure the club stays in good competent hands

The reason we have been shit for most of the last five years, is surely the combination of a squeezed budget and linked to this, totally abject decisions on recruitment and retention. David Blunt isn’t funding the losses or has the ability to do that. Surely he was working to a brief?

It’s clear last summer a decision was made to end decline and failure, and provide the finance to convince McCann to come here, and to start investing in a squad to succeed. That decision can only have been made by Terry. Why this wasn’t made previously, I guess only Terry knows.

I thinkvTerry covered that at the Meet The Owners when he said he wanted to make the club successful again and therefore be in the best place possible when the time comes. With TB and GB as the remaining major shareholders, I think we can trust them to only consider selling to the right kind of people, just as TB said.

Always thought he must have some naughty pictures of TB as the reason for him being kept in position for so long, maybe TB’s managed to recover them now!

It is over and we move on, making it an issue now like it is being shown on here  is just giving it publicity and making it an issue that serves no purpose.
It's finished let it go, nobody or the club comes out with any gain apart from him leaving, for the club now to gain traction and like the fire starter it is best to learn lessons and put it in the bin of history, and put it along with the other poor owner history the club have been unfortunate to have had in the past.
We are still here, we are rising again, and the future looks a lot better, they are the things to concentrate on now, and all pull together in the same direction

I wonder why he was kept on for so long. There appears to be no love lost now which seems a bit of a 180.

Anyway, good news all round it seems ahead of the new season.

Great post SM, thanks. Certainly an improving atmosphere around the cub the last 8 or 9 months from top to bottom, long may it continue

Totally agree with that Selby. The DFP headline doesn't help and only stirs up unnecessary speculation on social media.

We don't need this on the eve of the new season. Focus on the positive.

Couldn't disagree more Baz!

This is positive news, just about the best thing that could have happened to the club in recent years and should rightly be celebrated. His presence around the club was soul destroying for quite a number of staff members and had to be dealt with. Relieving him of the chairmanship had an immediate impact on the playing side of the club and now that he's gone and TB has sole control of the club means investment and progress.

As far as I'm aware he's the only shareholder in the club to ask for his loans to be repaid! We now know where we stand, and its got to be good for DRFC.

you may remember this thread someone not me started

https://www.drfc-vsc.co.uk/index.php?topic=289195.msg1274692#msg1274692

when his horse amazingly won that ASCOT race with hindsight the cash he got was only about half a million not a full million as I thought -APOLOGIES FOR THAT !!

if Poptronic had not won that race he could still be with us - who knows !!!
by the way that Bluestocking horse he beat has improved like hell and must be worth 5 to 10 million for breeding but will never be sold  SM told us the SP about his shares at the time

How come he has 1/3 shares? Had he put X amount in? I'm fully aware Gavin has been given them for essentially the amount of income he's generated being here.

He did buy into the club, the shares weren’t gifted.
