Got me stumped. Don't reckon it is Webber, possibly Ogden, but you got me good and proper BB. Maybe not a striker. Not Brian Kelly by any chance.

Ogden then?

Sorry to be pedantic, DU, but if you're talking about the Rovers keeper at the time, it was John Ogston.

Steve, I was talking of the striker Trevor Ogden a couple of years earlier (65-66 and 66-67). IIRC neither Webber nor Ogden played with Pancho but I thought the kit might still have been the same. I think Webber played in 66-67 and 67-68 and Pancho in 68-69 and 69-70.

Who's the Rovers player on the left. Bonus points for the other two Rovers players in the picture, but don't ask me who they are, I don't know! I have an idea of who they could be, but nothing definite.

Who is the opposition, for another point?

Yep, King Alick is on the left. I had Wilcockson (centre) and Rabjohn (right) also.

Any idea of the opposition?

P.S. That photo could be worth some money. Can anyone guess why?

betcha didn't know ( neither did I till now) Tottenham had a bid for Wilcockson turned down by Rotherham

thank goodness for Tommy Docherty I say (yet again)

"Born in Sheffield the Millers were Harold’s first club making fourteen appearances in his first season in all competitions. As an attacking full-back he became an ever present in the 1965/6 season and was rarely out of the starting eleven the following season. He went on to play over one hundred and twenty-five games in a Rotherham shirt scoring a handful of goals along the way.

Tottenham Hotspur had a bid for him turned down before he was sold to Doncaster Rovers in 1968, where he won a Fourth Division Champions medal, from there having a couple of seasons with Sheffield Wednesday before returning to Belle Vue. He finished his playing career with Goole Town hanging his boots up in 1976."

Betcha didn't know that Laurie Sheffield claimed Tommy Docherty was the worst manager he'd ever played under.

Don't ask me why but I think the oppo nr 6 is John Newman of Exeter. I have found the picture in the 1968-69 promotion brochure, so there are not too many Saturday home matches to chose from before Alick left. The Exeter match was on Saturday 7 September 1968, and we won 3-1 with Alick getting a hattrick.

So now I have looked at Bluff's book and we had a lot of our Home matches on Fridays, and the only candidate matches before Alick left are Bradford City,  Exeter, Peterborough and Wrexham. Wilcockson did not play against Wrexham. So far then I am at least 33% confident it is Exeter. Also Exeter might be the only one of those three to play with white stripes. The following season was the first covered by Rothman's, Bradford City payed in Claret and Amber stripes so it is not them, and Peterborough played in Blue (no stripes), so my hunch looks to be a good one.

Dutch, I had it as Colchester United, but that is purely on memory, and therefore I could be wrong. I was hoping someone would say Colchester to back up my memory.

Alick was long gone by the time we played Colchester at Home on 22 March 1969.

Have I redeemed myself yet
