Charlie Seaman sent off for Maidstone in their 2-1 away play off victory (National League South) at Eastbourne.
These players finding a level.

Josh Emmanuel has made it through to the National League play offs with Halifax Town. They are away at Oldham Athletic on 14 May in the eliminator to then potentially go through to the semi finals against York City on 20 May.

Oldham Athletic have Dan Gardner and Billy Waters on their books.

At the start of the season the rules are set and it happens every so often with the play offs that a team scrapes into the last place on goal difference or a 90th minute equaliser, then goes on and wins the playoffs. I’m all for promotion and relegation but a lot of the teams that come up have no history or big enough fan base to maintain a league position, some clubs bankrupt themselves trying to do it.

Teams promoted from the NL in the last 3 seasons include Chesterfield, Wrexham, Grimsby, Notts County and Stockport....

Exactly what I mean these teams have a solid history behind them and an established fan base of over 6,000 . By fan base I mean supporters of the club not just people who attend matches, because as we know through those who contribute on here not all of our fan base attend matches through one reason or another.

Southend United who have endured enormous ownership problems over a number of years and survived probably record Winding Up petitions have had an average gate of 7339 this season. Considering that they have only just scraped into the Play-offs this is evidence of a very loyal fanbase when you take account too of West Ham being only an hour or so away.

Bit strong that. They were struggling when he signed on a short term deal played 7 games and was seriously injured about 5 or 6 weeks ago.

Hope Louis gets over his injury and finds a club further up the pyramid - with injuries it’s not been a good season for him

I saw him last week and was having a chat. He has had surgery and is on the mend. He seemed really positive.

Good stuff. Good keeper there just needs some love and affection from fans rather than pelters if he has a slip up.

Was it only a contract to the end of this season he signed?

He’s still been relegated with them, though, even if he didn’t play much of a part in it.

Jordan Thompson has also been released by Stoke, I would take him over both Gooch and Stevens, but Thompson might go back to Blackpool

Hadn’t realised Salford had let JT go but I’m pleased he’s still got some football to look forward to next season.

Jed Steer released by Peterborough. Thought he was a decent keeper when we had him on loan?

He signed a one year deal with Salford City last summer. Played a decent amount of games for them.

Feels like he should have something to offer still to a football league or at least national league side, although he turns 33 this close season and maybe his pace is not what it was.

If that's the case, then the minority was well vindicated when he went on to play in the Premier League for Villa, in a club record breaking run of 10 successive wins.

I think you need to be a fairly decent keeper to achieve that.

Think you’re confusing a couple of separate things there, Steve, or possibly missing an “and”. Steer did play in the PL for Villa, but very briefly - 2 starts 7 years apart with an 8 minute substitute appearance in between. Their 10 game winning run came when in the Championship, but he was in goal for that run.

I stand corrected.

Still must be decent to play for Villa in the Championship. I thought he ws OK for us.

Joe Wright has just been namerd Player Of The Season at Kilmarnock. Seems to be first choice there with 112 appearances in his 3 seasons, which also suggests he's over his injury woes. Delighted for him, for as well as a decent player, always appeared to be a decent lad.

Can vouch for him being a top lad. Long story short I won a pair of his boots whilst a few Stella’s deep through a charity donation thing but never got sent them. Tweeted Joe jokingly and he sent me a pair in the post. Delighted he’s making a good career for himself.

Had lunch at The Rustic Pizza Co today on a rare foray back to the motherland, and (very much current player) Moly was having lunch with Sam Hird. Not sure what he’s up to these days, wiki just says his last move was to accept a role at the PFA. Was surprised to find out that he’s younger than me and still only 37!
