Just shows even at this level you can’t afford to give away chances and expect not to get punished.

On another day molly would of been given a free kick. They got the luck with the 3rd and add in some bad defensive errors they score and game over. 2nd goes in the stand 9 times out of 10. Once they scored they wanted it more and found that bit extra needed to win. Well done Newport. We move on to the next.

Not sure it was a free kick, won the ball didn’t he? Sterry was shambolic for the first.  The third goal was shambolic as well.

We were talking about him last season and saying that he always let's his man cut inside.
He still hasn't learned. Absolutely no point in jockeying when he constantly let's his man do this.

I've never seen Sterry tackle his man at the point where he first collects the ball.
He always let's the oppo collect the ball and face him up.
We need a more tenacious right full back and I'd like to see Nixon in there for a run of games.

Sometimes Sterry's defending is questionable but with the first goal, it's good wing play, the guy dropped his shoulder and went the other way. Not many players of any description will prevent that. You can't prevent all crosses. In addition, keeper should be saving that although their player in front of the keeper looked offside and interfering.  Anyway, we gave away possession cheaply. That's the root cause.

No 2. Ironside loses possession this time in a bad area. Maybe we were a little weak in the tackle after that but again, losing the ball in that area is the root cause.

No 3. The ball was cleared Inc a second ball header. When it's headed back in that should be meat n drink for one of the centre halves but, our back line has to be making their last man offside (the scorer)
If we were slow getting out and someone played him on, that needs looking at but  missing the header was the root cause

Finally got round to watching these and they aren’t good. How weak were the tackle for the first and would love to see it from another angle as Baker Richardson looked way offside-don’t think the keeper has any blame from there though.
2nd goal again some weak attempts at tackling but great hit (their #14 looked a decent player all game)
Third goal wow what a calamity - for all his experience Wood looked lost a few times yesterday

Like I said in BST's thread, the capitulation in the 2nd half was pathetic. Having seen the goals back, that cannot be argued. We are much better than that which makes it more disappointing.

I agree with Baz. Keeper at fault for the first; Joe at fault for the second; and the third was just Sunday League defending.

Let's hope it was just a blip, because if we play like that at Port Vale, another bogey ground, we'll get mullered.

Slightly strange question: who was muller and what was it that happened to him?

I object to that comment :)

My first visit there was a joy, Dude. A 2-0 win for Rovers in 1968, with goals from Gilfillan and King Alick.

However, I've been 3 times since; all 0-3 thrashings. Lovely big ground though. Well worth a visit for anyone who hasn't been.
