Chelsea to sign eighth keeper with £17m Penders deal

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/cn5rz5kvqk7o

9 August 2024
Chelsea are set to add an eighth goalkeeper to their squad after agreeing a £17m fee with Genk for Mike Penders.

The 19-year-old will sign a long-term deal at Stamford Bridge and is then expected to go back on loan to the Belgian club for the forthcoming season.

Chelsea signed Filip Jorgensen from Villarreal last month for £20.7m and have seven keepers listed in their first-team squad, including last season's number one Robert Sanchez and Kepa Arrizabalaga, who is back after a year on loan at Real Madrid.

Penders made his senior debut in July, becoming the third-youngest goalkeeper to play in the Belgian Pro League.

The 6ft 7in Belgium Under-19 player will become Chelsea's 10th summer signing and will take spending beyond £150m - with Atletico Madrid striker Samu Omorodion expected to join imminently for a £34.5m.

AND ...…...Chelsea goalkeepers out on loan

to Barnsley 9 August 2024

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/cgq2ygngj3po
https://www.chelseafc.com/en/news/article/slonina-completes-loan-switch

Chelsea goalkeeper Gabriel Slonina has joined League One side Barnsley for the 2024/25 campaign.

The United States international joined the Blues in August 2022 but remained at Chicago Fire on loan until the end of their MLS season.

He spent the second half of the 2022/23 campaign with our Under-21s and spent last season on loan in Belgian with K.A.S. Eupen, for whom he made 34 appearances in all competitions.

The 20-year-old will now continue his development in England’s third tier – and will be supported by the Blues throughout his loan spell in South Yorkshire.

to Crawley also   9 August 2024

https://www.chelseafc.com/en/news/article/eddie-beach-departs-on-loan-crawley-town

Chelsea goalkeeper Eddie Beach has completed a season-long loan move to League One side Crawley Town.

Eddie joined the Blues in July 2022 from Southampton and in addition to featuring for our Under-21s, has also spent time on loan with Chelmsford Town and Gateshead.

The 20-year-old spent this summer with the senior squad and was included on our tour of the USA. We look forward to seeing and supporting his progress this season.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

just checked and we signed our "version of a Young Chelsea Goalkeeper "in June

HOPEFULLY WE GOT FIRST DIBS !!!  it seems perhaps not

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/cd11j8pwvqjo

13 June 2024
Doncaster Rovers have signed goalkeeper Ted Sharman-Lowe on a season-long loan from Premier League side Chelsea.

The 21-year-old will spend the 2024-25 season at the Eco-Power Stadium with Grant McCann's squad.

Sharman-Lowe made three appearances for Burton Albion's first-team before joining Chelsea in 2021, while he spent last season on loan with Bromley in the National League.

OUT OF INTEREST i WONDER IF i HAVE MISSED ANY OTHER VERSIONS OF A YOUNG CHELSEA GOALKEEPER  GOING OUT ON LOAN

have you had a bad day or in the alternative are you a miserable  $hit 24x7.

There are a wide spectrum of members on this site each with varying degrees of interest in football. This site to some pensioners possibly living alone -even maybe housebound is a lifeline.     . Starmer currently hasn't rationed the amounts of "ink"  :suicide: we use posting on this site

Without checking I wonder what you actually contribute to this site.

Unless you are as "geographically challenged" as Akinfenwa ,  perhaps you might realise Barnsley is "currently" when I last checked close to Doncaster  whist Crawley isn't.

Perhaps (fingers crossed ) you might even be even intelligent to realise that both the Rovers & Barnsley Chelsea loanees will of course know each other well and will no doubt occasionally meet up .

Meanwhile have a nice Evening

and my point was Mr Miserable (as always) I THOUGHT WE HAD GOT A $HITE GOALKEEPER  BUT I LET YOU ALL DRAW YOUR OWN CONCLUSIONS - couldn't even get a game at non league Bromley - and was returned to sender at Chelsea early.

I KNEW JONES WAS HOPELESS BUT NEVER CRITICIZED HIM --  we dipped too early   --

if we had that Hull loanee in goal we would have walked this league

talking of x-Chelsea young goalkeepers

ironically Bradford's goalkeeper is x CHelsea youth  -USUAL 6 FOOT 13 INCHES TYPE  WAS LOANED OUT LIKE A LIBRARY BOOK for years  - i was surprised he seems to have improved

Got to agree here where is this post going?  Why not start a pointless thread on forest whilst you're at it letting us know how many players they have signed these last few years?
