Did worry if he would get much of an opportunity after they how spent £10 million on Stanfield (ridiculous money for league one)

They also signed Landon Dykes, who has 30 odd caps for Scotland and has been a Championship regular for QPR since moving down. May’s not done himself any harm with the start he’s had but there’s some tough competition to keep his starting spot.

Not again... Christ Almighty! Livuing in the past is one thing. Forcing every other bugger to do so as well is entirely another. And it's not welcome here.

Bob, with respect mate, the thread title gives away what it is about so just don’t read it.

Although I do agree that anyone can talk about anything, it is tiresome seeing a new thread everytime an ex player scores or moves to a new club.

I hate Birmingham City for many reasons, the main one being that their injury time goal a few years ago relegated  us. Their one bright spot was the emergence of Trevor Francis who was a phenomenon. To fork out 10 million or whatever it is at their level for a player is just bonkers. Alfie May I have no problem with although he could have chosen a better club. This is Wrexham all over again. They should score tons of goals and win this division by a street but eventually their day of reckoning will come. Personally I'd prefer to see a team well coached, well managed and on a limited budget win the league by it's own hard graft. Hopefully Rovers this year. If the future of the game is purely dependent on the wealth of your owners it's a very sad indictment on lower league football.
I sometimes wonder where football is heading but financially it can't be good. I remember the days when we depended on the likes of Hubert Bates and Frank Wilson as chairman. I'm sure a call from Mark Zuckerberg would set the pulses racing but we all know it would eventually go belly up. Let's try and keep things on an even keel to stop losing the likes of Scunthorpe and Bury. I know we're in good hands now and long may it continue.

Feel like there needs to be an unwritten rule about what is and isn’t news worthy.

Maybe a hat-trick, transfer, winning a competition or strange goings on (Mcindoe etc) are worthy of a thread. A fomer player who is a centre forward playing a game and scoring a goal is not thread worthy!!

Also the time span has to be considered. It’s not like Alfie was let go this summer. It’s been years

May being the League One top scorer is worthy of a thread.

The big story should have been he was well known to be the best finisher in the club, he just wasn’t given the game time, and when he was, it wasn’t as a striker.
Thankfully he has earned us some money, but we never got to benefit from his real game.
Really pleased to see him shine in what is a cauldron of a team this year with what is going on, I mean 10 million on another striker!!! And in league 1 WTF

As far as I'm aware there are no limits to the amount of threads allowed to be put on this forum, and this particular thread is not restricting any other from being created.

The thread's subject is clearly titled and potential readers know who it is about and can choose to ignore it if they wish.

Would be simpler to have it on one thread. The Ex player thread that was set up is a good idea and I do like to see who’s still scoring that used to play for us.
Also may reduce the arguments, which any Alfie May post seems to end in.
Anyway back to Brian Stocks toe nails…

If there was no threads about ex players the content of this forum would be down by 25 - 30%.
In the past there has been threads/posts about numerous ex-players, ranging from Harry Gregg to Mo Faal, I for one find it interesting reading about previous players, this is my 50th season but I find posts about Fred Potter,Laurie Sheffield,Peter Doherty,Archie Irvine etc really interesting as I do about Brian Stock,Neil Redfearn,Aiden Barlow etc.
We’ve nearly got a 150 years of history every Rovers supporter should embrace that as well as looking forward to the future

Or if people just use one of the other thousands of Alfie May threads to get off on rather than just open a new one every week?

Some storylines deserve the extra attention that a new thread provides.

Alfie May, being one of the most flagrantly under-valued giveaways in Rovers' history, epitomises that.
