Two 11’s
« on September 03, 2024, 11:42:24 pm by swain_drfc »
Maybe I’m getting ahead of myself here, but do we have two 11’s this year that could finish in the top 7? I feel like any team we put out in the EFL cup this season is not weakening us that much so I thought I would ask the question.

I’m not saying we are going to romp the league and have everything our own way. However, with the strength in depth we now have I genuinely feel that we have 2 teams that could seriously challenge the top 7 in this division.

Thoughts all?

I agree and was thinking the same tonight.

We have like-for-like swap outs all over the pitch, with the exception of Mols. We don't yet have anyone as good as him in that role.

The best part of this is that our plan B is Plan A with fresh legs on.

It’s not a bad place to be is it? We’ve recruited extremely well this year.

I love Grant and his team there is no doubt about it, I was desperate for him to come back.

Terry Bramhall is the real winner here though, amazing support for our club whilst maintaining his values with club Doncaster and the community but also with Gavin building a team and structure to help support and drive those ambitions across the whole club not just on the pitch

Well done Terry.

If we're winning games while most of us struggle to name our best XI, it's a great place to be.

We used to look at the bench and think eek, we can't afford to lose X, Y or Z but now subs don't mean a weaker team.

Still lots of work to do in certain areas. We're still weak at set pieces.

Only have to look at the fan hub prediction game don’t think I’ll get an 11 out of 11, we have a fantastic 1st 11 and an above average 2nd 11 that’s more than a match for most teams in this league

Think it’s the 1st time I can remember where we’ve really had
this depth.

We’ve had big squads before but there’s either been a drop off in quality or the squad is inflated by lots of injuries.

Here we’ve genuinely got 2 fit 11s that imo are good enough for top 7. Combined we have to be going for 1st place imo!

One thing I have noticed is that the subs usually improve the team. Every player in the starting 11 can't and won't have an 8-9 of 10 performance. But at the times someone is having a 6 or is tiring we bring someone on at 60/70 mins who is fit, and fighting for their start so most subs come on and play very well.

Grant has continually spoke about having 2 players for every position and also having a bench that will impact the game. I understand that but have never seen it, not like we are now.

We are actually in a position where we have players competing for a place on the bench!!!!

It's unbelievable given where we were not so long ago.

Great time to be a Donny fan, we have had enough heart ache that's for sure!

As above, WELL DONE TERRY

How many of our squad would be good enough to compete at a high level in League 1 is an interesting question. I am fairly sure most of them could.
