Home attendances to date League Two.24/25

I know this article is clickbait but still interesting. Are we surprised we're only ranked 10th?

https://www.doncasterfreepress.co.uk/sport/football/here-is-the-average-crowds-for-every-league-two-club-so-far-this-season-and-how-doncaster-rovers-compare-to-gillingham-carlisle-united-notts-county-colchester-united-and-the-rest-4769815?page=3

I suspect the calculation has included that incorrect figure published a couple of weeks back, before it was corrected.

In addition, our early home games v Accrington and Morecambe were hosting clubs with smaller fanbases.

I don't think we should be happy with 10th behind some clubs who we might expect to better although, starting Saturday, we would expect that average figure should climb over the 7000 mark quite soon?

Last season we were ranked eighth for home gates, pretty much tied with Mansfield on seventh. So far this season I also have us eighth, again very close to Tranmere in seventh.

The thing is, most clubs publish their ST sales, but for some reason we don't. We know that Bradford usually sell around 15000 STs, so their average crowds are always going to be massive.

We don't know how many of the 6400 or so average includes ST holders, which makes it hard to guess the amount of people actually in the stadium.

Just checking and the article has only included the first incorrect attendance v Accy.

It was corrected to 7423, then Morecambe was 6823, so that's an average of 7123!!!

So the good news is we've risen to 6th without kicking another ball.

I really need to speak to Mr Thirkill about his Supercomputer!!

Not 6th I'm afraid - Notts County has an even bigger error. They are averaging over 10K, but one of their attendances was reported as 1046 instead of 10046

Like the league table, probably not worth looking at until 10 games in, and then only if errors are corrected.

I forget the exact figures but the best/worst was Accrington Stanley last season. They had, as usual, just under 2K, but was reported something like 1,923,923, or nearly 2 million

OMG, that's bad. I did wonder about Notts Co.

Anyway, I've emailed him and questioned his source and added that I'd not checked the other clubs.

Event hough it is ckickbait, you'd expect a reasonable amount of accuracy, but this is the fella who puts out articles like the highest paid footballers in league two based on 'transfernaket' which is twaddle as we know

The good news is that from our 2 home games to date, it’s virtually been all rovers fans in the stadium (less 150 ish for each away following). This during ‘Holliday’ season. I would expect us to average over 7k home fans within the next few months, should we be still at the right end of the table.

I expect only Bradford, Notts County & possibly Chesterfield to have a higher ave attendance than us by the end of this season.
Wimbledon could if they do really well but I think they may be struggling to finish top 7
MK Dons attendances have dipped over the last 2 seasons and even if they finish top 3 I can’t see them averaging more than us.
Swindon are on a real downer at present & I expect their gates to start slipping.

I think we could average 8.000 + this season.

I echo your thoughts on that. 8000 should be achievable.

Well, success. Looks like the article has been updated this morning showing our correct average of 7123. Up to 7th! He listens!

I might do a further update on this myself after 12 home games.
