My prayer is that we do not get a referee who determines the shape and result of the game for a third time in a row.

We look better shape wise than v Chesterfield in the first half with Sharp getting on the end of our best move but the ball hitting the bar, also Sbarra heading just wide from a centre by Sharp.
So not a bad performance but we need to score to put them under pressure as we seem to be searching for better form as a collective, but at least we are doing better off the ball than at the weekend.

We are all wind and piss tonight a lot of good effort but not impact on the score sheet  . No target man , Sharp running around trying to make things happen but no real support when needs it . Ironside still on the bench when his presence up front would occupy their defence more !!!

The conditions got progressively worse as the game went on and one attack of quality second half and three points.
No lack of effort, and in midfield  off the ball a much improved workman like performance.
Not a night for flowing football, one to dig in and get the job done.
MOM for me the groundsman and his team, in the game Olowu but everyone did a job in a hard working team effort with three points the reward at the end of the game

Bailey back to his best tonight. No coincidence that he was the holding midfielder with 2 energetic players in front of him in Kelly and Clifton.

Long way from a perfect performance but by heck we at least looked like a team again tonight. On Saturday we looked like 11 players who were playing together for the 1st time.
It would have been an injustice if we hadn’t won tonight.
That’s a very important win for us after 1 point from the last 3 games.

Onwards and upwards.

Really good 3 points, bags of effort & application, stuck to the task & deserved the win. Not a great performance, but better second half than the first, Barrow played the better football first half but offered little in the final third. The partnership of Olowu & McGrath looked good again with both having excellent games. Awful conditions, loads to improve on, but job done, well done Grant & the players.

Play players in their best positions. Round pegs in round holes.
Close would be ok in the front of the midfield but not at the base imo.
Having said that I think the best 3 played tonight. Bailey as holding midfielder and Kelly with Clifton in front.
2 players with legs and a very high work rate.
Bailey m.o.m. He simply made us so much more solid playing in that deeper role.

Barrow were awful. We were ok with plenty of first choice men missing.

Agree with that Gaz. Looked at table and can’t believe Barrow are 4th on GD. Happy with us in 5th having scraped a win tonight. Yes we were better than Saturday, but not great.

Onwards and upwards.

Couldn't have summarised it better.

A really good collective team performance. For the most part, sound defensively, more together in midfield, so we had a platform.

Hallelujah, we score from a whipped in cross from a full back with Clifton taking a gamble. I thought Clifton covered so much ground tonight but more importantly, Bailey and Kelly were very disciplined holding the midfield together.

Olowu and McGrath have all the attributes to be the best centre half pairing in the league, bar just that little 10% more experience/composure at times but I'll take the 90% performance any day of the week. Sterry was very good tonight too, capped with that excellent cross.

Billy. Well, what can you say. What an example he sets for others to aspire to. He still chases lost causes. Sbarra nearly benefitted from that with the header but Billy deserved a goal and the one that hit the crossbar would have been a stunning goal on the end of a great move.

Overall, it might have lacked a bit of quality but I'll take the endeavour and workmate. More of the same Saturday please.

We are always quick to criticise piss poor refs on here but rarely heap praise when it's due. Tonight's ref hardly put a foot wrong IMHO.

Yes at last we got a very decent referring performance.

Mr Oldham does blow hot and cold. His last game with us was very poor.

The ref last night wasn’t refereed by Oldham.

Sterry was much better. He probably feels like he can push on more with Olowu covering. And finally a good cross from someone!

Thought it didn’t look like him.
It said Hallam on the BBC site but I thought the ref had been changed from him to Oldham.
Obviously not.

Both fullbacks could push on when we had the ball as Bailey went into a back three generally on the left. When they had the bal he went more centrally and the two fullbacks got back into their positions

Duckworth was originally down to do our game but it was switched to Hallam.
We are getting the benefit of Duckworth at Grimsby apparently.

Just a mention for Billy Sharp chasing that ball that looked like it was going out for a goal kick and clipping the second best cross of the day. Didn't look too old or slow at that moment.

Think Mr Duckworth owes us one after that one he did last season.
That was Swindon at home wasn’t it when he sent off Tommy Rowe.

That was a red to be fair.

I think we felt more injustice because we were in such a bad run of form at that time and expectations had been so high.

I think it should be said though that he has taken one of our matches since and there was a good reaction from our fans about his performance that time.
