Before saturday Ed Duckworth was the worst.

Now I look at him as a top tier legendary ref in comparison!

Who was that absolute tosser from Conference and early back in the league years? Got him! Trevor f**king Kettle. For years he was the exemplar of Godawful refereeing. And then there was that useless Singh fellow an' all.... Christ they were bad those two.

There is no doubt between the "terrible twins" Bell and Ed the Duck , Bell is by far the worst statistically

In the last 2 League games they have Reffed Bell v Chessie and Oxford scored 68 votes of nil

Bear in mind we WON the game v Oxford and he got 30 ( thirty ) nil votes but as " high " as 2 . Whooooooo

V Chessie he got 38 times 0 votes only , not even a 1.

Whereas the Duck had the Swindon game ( think it was Tommy Rowe and the high boot game ) where he got 39 votes of nil , nada , nowt , zero

He also reffed v Bradford City and got NO Zeros at all and a couple of heady height 4s with a sprinkling of 2s and 3s

No competition , but I suspect from the grinning Bells exit from the field on Saturday , it was job done and he won't care one bit

Kettle was a strange one.
We always complained about his performances and yet we had a very good win ratio when he took our matches.

Yes he was poor but consistently bad for both Teams

He applied the rules that he thought applied and was often right , sometimes right or not right at all but I believed that he didn't have it in for any particular Team

That is not something I could say for Bell on Saturday

I didn’t really notice the ref last night and he seemed to make all the right calls so he must have had a good game. Could definitely teach mr bell end and Ed the duck a lesson or three!!!

I thought the ref last night was excellent. He seemed to understand that it's a contact sport and managed to let the game flow where possible.  We deserved the 3 points and although we didn't dominate them, we always looked the more likely to score.

And that's the mark of a very good referee. He allowed the fans to concentrate on the football, not on his decisions; which is how it should be.

Completely agree re last nights ref, gave bookings when they were deserved but let the game flow and didn't fall for any of their flopping on the floor. An anonymous ref is the best kind of ref!

Completely agreed regarding last night's ref. In very challenging conditions he got almost every call spot on. An excellent performance.

It was a pretty easy game to referee but he was ok. No contentious decisions.
