Great book. Interesting that he doesn't seem to write much any more. Between that and All Played Out he wrote two of the great sports books of the 90's but his sparse wiki page suggests he lives a normal life now. Shame as those two books were really good.

That book cost me a nights' sleep. Utterly captivating. Along with 'Build a Bonfire' the two best sports books I've read.

Pete Davies’ book ‘All played out’ is the best football book I have ever read, & I’ve read my fair share!

Totally agree. I bought for a quid in a WH Smith sale in the mid nineties. Must have read it 5 or 6 times since.
