Two minute silence in ‘Remembrance’.
« on November 09, 2024, 11:51:17 pm by Usher wide. »
Thought it was ‘in general’ well adhered to however.

From the West Stand closest to the away supporters (not saying it came from Notts County fans however) there was a constant ‘chattering’ going on as the two minute silence started from that area.

It’s difficult to pinpoint where exactly the ‘peasants’ were seated given the acoustics in a full bowl of a stadium naturally reverberate but 30 seconds in, it was perhaps ‘telling’ that a lone voice that definitely came from the central area of the away end shouted “SHUT THE F**K UP!”……& they did.

I said to my brother as the two minute ‘silence’ was ended by the referee’s whistle, “How sad is it that for two minutes in a stadium of some 10,000 people a ‘group of individuals’ can’t respect the moment?”.

It truly beggars belief.

I wondered whether it came from under the concourse and may be they weren’t aware of what was happening. They appeared to ‘shut up’ after the lone voice

Yes, I thought the noise came from the concourse. Otherwise it was very well observed and enacted.

The instruction to shut up could be clearly heard from the South Stand.

That’s no excuse really- you can tell the stadium is silent from the concourse. Definitely came from away end

You can here the pa system better from the concourse. But I think those notts fans were clearly outside. It happens and not intentional I expect.

Thought it was a good remembrance too.  Managed to keep my 5 year old quiet for the whole thing too, he's still learning about it all.

I thought I heard a small group of Notts fans trying to get a song going until they were told to shut the f**k up?

That wasn’t the two minute silence from our fans. It was the start of the proceedings when they walk the flag on the pitch. They stopped straight away.
What was good to see was all the veterans got a standing ovation and applause when the past the south stand before and after.

The noise was definitely from the county fans in the concourse.
After the service had finished a large group came out and stood in the north west corner, they were leading the singing thro the game, so safe bet to assume they were the group making the noise in the concourse.

Also likely that the pyros came from this group.

Regarding the pyros, how come the the home fans were dragged into the warning over the tannoy, when was the last time a pyro went off in the home end, and are security more lenient on the away turnstyles, I was searched yet again

Security is stricter on the away end, but there's nothing you can do if they stick pyro in their underwear, which is where they often do nowadays.
The searching on home fans I believe is unnecessary, but clearly the club must have their reasons?

They give their pyros to a spotty 14 year old to take in as under 16s can’t be searched. He’ll no doubt have under his Stone Island jacket

After attending the service at the cenotaph today we had a walk through town, and i couldnt believe that our city centre doesnt put up anything marking the occasion. Not large poppies, no flags.
Obviously the council dont give 2 shits

Or maybe prioritise what money they have elsewhere?

Maybe so.

Its a sad state of affairs when the council cannot afford to put up some flags and poppies for remberance sunday.
I know they have to foot the cost of the service, how much extra would it cost to add something to the town centre.

The town was decked out with rainbow flags for the pride festival. Im assuming was also at a cost or maybe funded from elsewhere?
