Just seen this comeback from the weekend. Possibly the best comeback i have seen or collapse.

And the sad thing was that all 3 Yarm & Eaglescliffe fans went home at 5-2 down

Do recall a Motherwell v Hibernian match in the Scottish premiership, whereby Hibs were 6-2 up and Motherwell came back and drew 6-6 (even missing a penalty at 5-6). 2010 I think.
Worst Rovers one I can think of was 4-0 up v Telford at HT drew 4-4.
Not sure of Rovers best comeback (Dover?)

Not a really high score but the best Rovers comeback match might be the one against Crewe. We went 2-1 down in the last minute and the stadium virtually emptied but we then scored two in added time to win the game.

My memories not what it was in the first season back in league were we 4-0 up or down against Cambridge?

3-0 down, came back to 3-3 and then Paul Barnes missed a penalty very late on to win it. From memory that was pretty much the last thing he did in a Rovers shirt.

Notable comebacks/throwaways in the conference included the 5-4 win over Dover after being 3-0 (I think) down and a 4-4 draw at Telford after leading 4-0.

1956; 70 minutes gone, Charlton 1 Huddersfield 5.

Full time, Charlton 7 Huddersfield 6.

Wow.

About 1975 or so, away at Gay Meadow in an absolutely shocking gale Rovers were 5-0 down. They then set about Shrewsbury and got back to 5-4. Brilliant! Excitement mounts.... Final score? 7-4 to the Shrews!

They say history repeats itself, but when it comes to these sorts of Articles it is a question of repeating history and recalling the 4-3 win over Man City in the 50s. There is a full report of the match at https://www.citytilidie.com/latest/doncaster-v-manchester-city-195051/. I was one of the 32,837 and I forget a lot of things now, but not that match.

Is that the same later much hated Jack Pickles who had a few run ins at Rovers including getting thumped on field by Tony Coleman?

Yes, I was going to remark on that. It was 1950 and the Coleman incident was quite a bit later - 17 years, so it may not have been the same man. There is an interesting link to the Coote story because Coleman was walking off and I reckon Pickles said something and only then did he come back and thump him. Pickles never reffed again.

My Dad always said that Harry Gregg was in the Main Stand that night in 1967.  According to my Dad, Harry was so appalled by the refereeing by Pickles that night that he personally went to the FA (FL? Dunno which was responsible) and gave his views. That, I was told, was the only reason Tony Coleman wasn't banned sine die.

Does Churchills response to Bessi Braddock count as the greatest comeback?

If it doesn't it's still a bloody fine one!
