A69 an alternative route ( Newcastle to Carlisle) if A66 is closed. Or M62 then M6. I don’t want to go M62 way. I have an extra 1.5 hours on top of you lot from Doncaster, coming from Boston.
Hoping A66 is open.

Much better to rely on accuweather or the like than BBC in my experience.

Accuweather hourly weather predicts 7 degrees at kick off and mainly rain on saturday morning with possibility of some early snow but rain chances reducing as the day goes on.  Also windy the morning of the match but wind speeds reducing towards kick off. Met office saying similar although predicting temperatures will be slightly slower to rise.

Of course they might be wrong. What will be will be.

Of those three route options, Spilsby, A66 would be the one most likely to be closed.  Travelling from Donny I'd be going M62/M6.

The other significant feature is that between now and when the rain starts there will be no more frost; it will remain just above 0 deg between now and then, so the ground has a good chance to thaw out. Looking at the local paper on line the only snow stories were the general warning on Tuesday and a report on Wednesday of only a “smattering of snow”.

Looks like the frost may not be the issue by Saturday afternoon, but waterlogging might be, judging by the volume of rain expected from 4am Saturday and through the daytime.

Allegedly a Russian submarine was ‘spotted’ in the North Sea some 25 miles off the coast of Teeside today.

According to the military advisor of the ‘Daily Star’, the communications between the captain of the Russian submarine & its base in Russia once having briefly surfaced, the Russian submarine captain quickly ‘flashed off’ a message which allegedly translated as “Nothing to see here. Request mission to Norway for crew to benefit from warmer climes”.

Fine up here on the 66 at the moment however it does get cold on the top it was -8.5 at brough yesterday morning.
