Is McGrath red card competition specific?

First yellow was a terrible decision as was the one for Maxwell and their player second half. Ref was poor all round today for both sides.

17 league games and 3 decent refereeing performances. Most of the other 14 have been diabolical.
What is happening to refereeing standards. Every season they get a little worse.
The linesman on our side simply didn’t understand the off side rule which is not acceptable. Does he not know it is when the ball is played and you’re allowed to run past a defender from a position behind him.

same can be said of alot of ours fans when balls quite clearly comes of our players for a throw in,but like you said there was at least 2offside calls that he got wrong

Given the number of yellows the ref gave against us first half ‘this one’ was always on the cards (no pun intended….it was actually!) having said that, how Luke Molyneux’s ‘tackle’ at the start of the second half at the edge of our box didn’t warrant a red I’ll never know!

Credit to the Carlisle player who sat, looked up at Luke & laughed. If he’d rolled around (as we’ve seen plenty cheats do) I could well have seen that yellow on 50 minutes being a red.

Apparently Mellish, the Carlisle player who Luke chopped down, was a former team mate at Gateshead.
The two of them were chipping away at each other throughout the game so there might be some ill feeling between the two from the past.

Yellow card certainly have a lower threshold than ever before. The first yellow is ridiculous. The second most obvious.

Could easily have not Carded Olowu. He was high but their bloke facilitated a " clumsy" challenge and the Ref bought it

Can't say same for Molys challenge . The other way round we would have been baying for a Red

Never a red for Molyneux. His feet never left the floor and he won the ball.

There was a challenge from a Carlisle player where both feet left the ground (maybe on Sterry) and ref waved it away
I thought Luke maybe slipped then realised I’m probably making excuses for a shocking tackle

Interesting how differently people can read Molyneux's tackle between not even a foul, a fair yellow and lucky not to be a red card. I thought he was clearly wound up & frustrated because he'd been fouled 3 or 4 times and not got a sniff from the ref and stupidly made a poor challenge but it wasn't bad enough to warrant a red.
