Reffed us at Newport in August.
He has taken 13 matches this season and dished out 53 yellow cards and one red.

He gave us the last minute penalty at Sutton last season
He also missed or chose to ignore two earlier penalties for us.
Let’s hope he’s more alert this time.

Last minute, Ironside controls the ball, turns to get a shot away and ends up flat on his back after the defender has both arms around him and pulls him over.
A penalty all day, every day.
How that can’t be awarded is totally beyond me.
No striker in the world would fall over without being helped over in that situation.

And in first half the useless Ref ( see Newport 27th August on here) does the usual Ref trick

Stops a corner to lecture Olowu and his marker which took ages.  Then immediately he blows for Corner to be taken and takes no.action as the marker completely wrestles Olowu to the floor

And added time is becoming a joke ( see Newport again ). EXACTLY on 45 minutes Added time is shown as 2 minutes

It was a goal kick to them and their Keeper took 32 seconds of that to put the Goal Kick into play Time then 45 m 32 secs
I think that we then had a few seconds of ball in play before Moly was crocked in SE corner. Chocolate Teapot tries to get him back to his feet ( why would Moly be feigning injury ) and at least 1 minute elapsed before Play resumed

Simpson blew exactly on 47 minutes 32 seconds so added time was actually 1 minute of play .

It's just not good enough

Wolfie, I just came back on to report what you have said about the first half add on time.
It was similar at the end of the game too.
The keeper taking for ever to take goal kicks and free kicks and the clock stopping on 6 minutes and 30 seconds of add on time after six minutes had been  announced.

In my opinion you guys are wasting your time complaining about wasted time.

Every team does it… including Rovers, with a good example being TSL at Fleetwood where he took forever to take a goal kick and like Neil Sullivan he displayed the art of diving to the floor every time he took the ball and no one was complaining then.

What I’m saying is what goes around comes around and the referee will give some added time, but we can’t go back to last season where we are getting 10 or 12 minutes of stoppage time or just have a system where we have a time keeper managing the ball in and out of play which might extend stoppage time by 15-20 minutes in each half.

The referee was what I would class as ‘average’ today and whilst he may have made some mistakes, he had to manage play in a scrappy game played in awful conditions and as all referees try to do, he did it as fairly as possible without bias.

His best moment was allowing an advantage when Senior was clattered into the advertising boards and the resultant play ended with Molyneux’s equaliser.  He then went back and correctly cautioned the Cheltenham player.

Pod, what are your thoughts on why did didn’t get the last minute pen when Ironside was clearly hauled over?

I haven’t seen it back, but it looked from my ‘bad angle’ in the East Stand that he was being pulled back, but the referee seemed to have a good view and decided not to give it.  Pulling and pushing goes on in the penalty area all the time and it’s often ‘six of one’ etc.  Maybe he thought there wasn’t enough in it… who knows?
I was definitely shouting for a penalty like everyone else in the ground, but we didn’t get it and perhaps in the end a draw was a fair result.

I know , I'm now sadly at the stage where I am saying " ball out on 11 seconds" and watching keeper do EVERYTHING in his armoury to make sure he takes a minimum of 30 seconds to put the ball back on play

I then say " back in 43 seconds" and tbh I've got to stop because I now watch Throw ins which are taking 18 seconds roughly as well AND getting on my own nerves

The players of the Team leading or satisfied with a draw are obviously the guilty parties and I am not "heartened" in any way when we do it except it means we might be winning

We pay to watch Teams play football not to see new and innovative ways they stoop to to play LESS of a game each week

Ironically the games rulers decided to allow Keepers to choose which side of the 6 yard box they can take GK from to speed up the game

Similarly allowing kicks not to have to leave the Penalty Area was another idea

Having balls dotted all round the Ground is another idea

All of them to " in theory" speed up play and keep the ball in play and so give more game time , the thing their customers are paying for and EVERY one of the above has done completely the opposite of its purpose when "dreamed up" ironically adding to the time wasting opportunities and assisting the average Ball in Play time down to under 60 minutes across our 4 Divisions

.

No striker in the world would fall over without being helped over in that situation.

Looked to be a foul seconds later on whoever it was that followed the ball, but could be wrong on that.

I have to admit to not seeing that Janso.
The red must around me was a bit thick at that time.
