Todays Team Selection

Big fan of Grants but is he tinkering with the side in both formations and players too much ?after a convincing win on Wednesday which worked well he moved back to a back four and brought Molly back in and dropped Anderson The team did not look balanced at all as there was no left sided midfielder and Billy was having to drop back to cover that position.
The defending at corners was shocking. Nobody picking up a spare player on two occasions, and from which they scored their first goal.
I don’t think he knows his best team which is concerning.

No idea what formation was in first half. Molyneux and Hurst seemed to be playing more narrower.

Speaking of defending corners, why don’t we send players out to close down the receiver when the opposition take a short corner.
Twice today the crowd were screaming at Hurst to come out of the box to do the closing down but he was obviously doing as he was told by not going out there.
The second one resulted in the first Cheltenham goal.
The same situation happens quite a lot.
What is the thinking behind this?

Should've played Kelly today. He is the best player weve got to travel with the ball on the ground which was needed in todays windy conditions.

Grant has been backed like no other manager since SOD.
He needs to sort this home form out because it isn’t good enough.
Re the conditions, the first thing we did was play it back to McGrath from the kick off who kicked it long and straight out for a goal kick. Speechless.

Saunders had a budget in League One that was same as SOD had in Championship.

Well at least unlike some teams that have good opening halves of the season, get found out and fall away we'll be alright cos even we don't know what we'll do next!!

Seriously though the introduction of Molyneux today, and playing with almost no left side threw the whole thing out of kilter and yet again Billy and Joe not getting service from wide areas as it was all to compact and distorted and a million miles behind Wednesdays free flowing performance away from home against a much better side than cheltenham.

For me we HAVE to play a back 3 of McGrath,Anderson and Olowu , forget full backs for now and let Nixon,Sterry,Molly,Gibson and Senior fight it out for providing the width and assists.

Broadbent was immense again today and him and Bailey are the shoe ins and please, please persist with both Joe and Billy

Were you watching the 1st half.
Broadbent was far from immense 1st half. He was awful.
2nd half he was very good indeed. Really must have had a rollicking from GM because he stepped his game up big time. Starting running as if he meant it, was winning 50/50 challenges and played some very good forward and diagonal passes to our wide players. He did none of those things in the 1st half.
Oh and that was some strike for his goal.
A game of 2 halves for George big time it was imo.

Difficult to fathom that first half formation today. I wish GM would decide on what's our best setup, with his first choice of players and let the guys get used to it and develop it. Can we not just worry about our own game and let the opposition change or worry about us.

You could say in a way its giving some teams too much respect in us changing our shape to accommodate them, let's just give them due respect and do our own thing.

We can't keep starting out with one formation and having to revert to the old faithful every time we have messed up and on the back foot.

You never know we may even get some consistency in our play when the guys have a plan they can work to without all the constant changes. Change when its absolutely required otherwise build your side and stick to it.

We can't be the best away team in the league and bog standard at home, gets you zero promotion.
