Identity of Doncaster Rovers
« on December 15, 2024, 01:48:45 pm by RoverinLincs »
I know it’s an old cliche that gets knocked about all the time, but I find it really hard to understand the identity that Rovers are trying to achieve this season?
We seem to crack the code regarding best players in best positions (when fit) in a formation that is largely successful with 2 up top and 3 at the back with wing backs.  And just when we are on a high thinking this is it, we can go on a nice run of results using a winning formula we change it, not just tinker or tweak it, it’s a total overhaul?
No wonder we are inconsistent, McCann must surely know his preferred formation and who fits into it?
Let’s stick with 2 up top and 3 at the back, at least for a run of 5/6 games and we will see some points on the board.
I for one, a baffled why we constantly “match up” against the opposition, when they should be the ones matching up to us!!
There’s a reason I’m not a professional football manager, but even I can see that we are far better than we have shown recently when we set up correctly.

It’s not always about the formation, but who is actually playing in that position.

                        TSL

        OLOWU.   ANDERSON.     MCGRATH

                               BAILEY
STERRY/. WESTBROOKE MOLYNEUX FLEMING/. EMANUEL.                                       SENIOR

                   IRONSIDE.   SHARP

There is the foundation with interchangeable wingbacks.

Hurst to be the first substitute on to add an extra threat

Job done

Don't get drawn into this "the (insert team name) way" that the media have created. Sick to death of this manager isn't playing the West Ham way, the Spurs way etc. Utter nonesene. Play any way you like every fan just wants winning and success. Almost as bad as "(insert manager name) ball"

Our identity at the mo is play poorly go 1 down and come out a match thinking a draw is an achievement

At the moment we’re predictable and easy to contain and beat when going behind .. we need more guts in the team and less of the head down when going behind …

I just enjoy supporting Donny Rovers and their identity has changed  so many times since Gregg Makepeace Graham Herbert Patterson Teasdale Mooney Tindill McMorran Harrison ,R Walker .
Rarely have so many good honest people been steering the club over all those years as those of  today. But every season throws up the same old moaning know alls who if we would only listen to them we would have been in the Premiership years ago ..That type is still around .Good old Donny  know - alls .
