Walsall just nearly scored for us one of the best chances

You have to wonder what they do in training throughout the week because we just look completely unprepared every time, whatever the opposition.

Walsall miles better, quick and  crisp passing with forward momentum. Physically strong, lots of movement. Great crosses and more than one creative player.
Everything we aren’t, sadly.

I doubt it helps that we change shape every weekend.

We’ve made it easy for Walsall, they’ve won at a canter. GM has to look at the weaknesses in the team and look for reinforcements in January transfer window.

Captain or not Bailey doesn’t do anything near last seasons level and plays 90 each wee and should deservedly be pulled off when needed not kept on he’s captain. Does nothing to get the team going and nothing today again. Far too many going through motions and somehow we’re 3rd when been so poor like today

Owen Bailey is nowhere near good enough this year- I am beginning to think Adelukan hid all our problems and we have failed to fix them.

Listening on Rovers player

Since a chant of "We can see you sneaking out" from the home fans about 5 minutes ago I haven't heard a word from the commentator - just crowd noise.

GM has to be honest with the squad that Walsall have set the bar high, but GM’s squad is way off reaching it.

Second best by a long way.some big changes needed for the new year if we are to maintain our league position. Wish we had their keeper.

This team isn't anywhere near as good as McCann seems to think listening to him.

It's painful watching us huff and puff trying to make something happen. Attacking quality is seriously lacking.

The referee has been very generous. Emmanuel should have had 2 yellow cards.

He’s probably done a runner with those sneaking out. :)

Game over. We deserved nothing from that. Some reinforcements needed in January. A lot of work to be done to be anywhere near the level of the opposition today.

Now long trip to Colchester and then at home to Fleetwood who have the new manager bounce can see us getting nothing from both of those games

That was awful, plenty of endeavour & effort but that's where it ends. Play like a team of individuals, can't make 3 passes without losing the ball in midfield. No real pattern to our play, clueless punts upfield trying to feed off Ironside, really really poor & nowhere near reminiscent of a McCann team of the past. Walsall didn't play that well but were far & away a better footballing side than us. We are in real danger playing like that of the season running away from us. Look nowhere near like a top 3 side. January is massive.

We were poor but I didn't think they were much better.
I reckon we will be closer than 10 points behind them at the end of the season and still get promoted.

This squad needs a good kicking up the backside and reality check. This might do enough for the next two games, but we face Port Vale on Jan 4th, we way we are playing at the moment, can’t see us getting anything from that game.

I don’t think it would have made much difference to the outcome but it looked to me like the scorer of the second goal, plus two others, were offside when the cross came in for the second goal.
It would have kept it at 1-0 though had it been given as offside and given us a bit longer to try to get level.
We were second best overall today though and apart from two or three occasions we didn’t look like scoring.
Still half a season to play though so we are still in the mix.

That’s three times now molly done a lazy blind punt across the pitch and given possession away, first one cost us the goal

Did this at least 3 times in the Tranmere game! What's going on with him?

TBF Port Vale aren't pulling up any trees - 3 points in last five games...

Speed!! Or lack of in and out of possession is a huge weakness.

Walsall were bang at it pressing us, especially when our ful backs had the ball. We don't press, we get near and shadow their players.
We're far too slow on the ball. Again, Walsall showed how to move the ball quickly with precision and had quick players to keep up.
Our 1 on 1 foot races are non existent, we just don't have any explosive speed in the squad.
Speed of thought is also lacking,  some of the decision making is horrendous.

Well done Walsall,  I was hoping GM would have built a side similar to that.

I know, amazing considering we've been largely underwhelming this season.

Still, how long can we keep a grip on 3rd place playing like we are doing?

Not much longer Nudga, things need to change & quick. I also wish Grant could have built a side similar to them, but we looks miles away, & that's a worry.
