Professional players cheating
« on December 29, 2024, 05:56:12 pm by Hickleton Rover »
I am sick of professionals throwing themselves to the floor every time they feel a touch on there body, it's makes it worse when referee's don't take any action except waving them to get up,:as was the case with Lyle Taylor and then throughout the game was blown over by a gust of wind and getting free kicks

I keep screaming at my tele for our defenders not to touch oppo players, as soon as they do, down they go! It's a really annoying tactic and I'm sick to death of it, it's blatant cheating whether it be us or them doing it. That ref today was so f*****g whistle happy every time there was contact he blew! Have professional refs been told by whoever employs them that football is not a contact sport and must be refereed as such! Ruined the game.

I thought the ref let a lot go for both sides, overall I’d give him an 8 out of 10

Get over to Rate the Ref then. You can give him 4

Don’t think the ref was that bad tbf, could have easily booked one or 2 donny players 1st half for accumulation of fouls but then coukd or should have booked their player late on for foul on hurst

I think he was fair too. The home fans were furious at the yards we stole at throw ins and sitting amongst them, it was evident that he was not unduly influenced by them more generally either.

Just seen the sending off and it is nothing really TBH.  Got the feeling the ref just wanted to show he was boss and decided to give a yellow - then realised it was a second yellow and had to send Gibson off.

Really stupid decision by both IMO.

Thats clearly offside, not by 2 yards mind

Lino is also in front of play so won’t be able to judge the line correctly

He’s clearly offside there. Poor one from the Lino that.

The knee and foot of their player (31?) is clearly in an offside position.

But back to the OP and I agree , there is too much cheating now.

Corners are a joke with the all in Wrestling
Diving is a joke
Pretending they've been hit in face when they have had shirt pulled is a joke
Leaping high in air and screaming when tackled is (usually) a joke

And that's before we start on time wasting.

Latest fashion ? Taking free kicks when ball is moving so Ref stops play and more time is wasted

Goalkeepers on lots of money a Game missing a ball rolled to them by Ball boys

I've said many times , we pay to watch a game of Football but we actually get 60 minutes of Players working out how little of a game they can play especially if result going their way

Wolfie, with every week that goes by I am in agreement with the 60 minute ball in play thing that you have long championed.
The time wasting is ridiculously bad now.
I watched the second half of West Ham v Liverpool yesterday and despite several substitutions, two goals scored (and the elongated celebrations by players) plus one quite long (maybe two minutes) stoppage when two players clashed heads, the add on time at the end of the match was just four minutes.

.... and furthermore I bet the ball was only live in the last 4 minutes maybe for 2 minutes ?

I was listening to Spurs Wolves and 8 minutes added and Tim Sherwood I think it was , was pointing out the "dark arts" being applied by Wolves and that he ball he bet , hadn't been rolling for anywhere near that 8 minutes and yet none of them seem to see what is in front of them .

The game would be much better , nowhere near perfect though , if a fixed Clock was brought in. It's been and being trialled again by the games rulers and I for one would think they could give it a prolonged trial to see how it worked out
