What it does do is let us start with two strikers and still bring on a fresh striker laterr
Is he related to Theo?
Anyway manager has spent so far explaining why he doesn't want to start with two strikers

He was Streete, not Street.
That’s either a wooosh moment or very funny.

Height and pace will offer something different for us. Let’s judge him on what he does for us.

Exactly. Ticks specific boxes we don’t already tick. Feels like a focal point to a specific plan like Hakeeb offered at the end of last season.

Did the statement signing fall through, or are we still waiting ?

I think this is him. He’s the one McCann spoke about being the league above and had the parents clubs director of football come and meet him so, I’m assuming it’s Street.

I don't think it necessarily is but that being said, if he's a different option then I'm happy and we will see how he does. We needed something different to Ironside/sharp up there particularly at homes.  Hopefully it's like SOD bringing in Gareth Taylor.

I assumed Smyth hadn't seen a picture of the two.

Agreed, we’ve a lot of footballers but barely no athleticism or height in the side so let’s see what happens. Lincoln signed him for money on a 4 year contract so the lad must’ve had some options, let’s hope it clicks for him and us!

It at least gives GM that option. Also GM has started Joe & Billy together a few times recently (IIRC  Walsall A, Cheltenham H, Fleetwood A)

I guess he sometimes prefers a loan striker over a lone striker

Yes, we needed that additional and alternative option up top, just as we did with Max Biamou last season.

As we discussed on the 'pace' thread, that alone isn't the solution, it needs to have an end product with either assists or goals. So it has to be Quality Street.

His scoring record isn't great which is a concern but, he starts with a clean slate and judging by our last scrappy performance, it shouldn't take him long to get up to our speed.

Does any remember a striker we had in the early 1990s called O'Neill Donaldson. He didn't do that well for us, we shipped him out on loan to Mansfield and he promptly scored 7 in 5 games. We recalled him and sold him to the Owls (for 50K IIRC) who were in in the Premier League. Different club different results.

Be good if this signing, like Adelakun, could work out for us like Donaldson in reverse (no recalls of course)

Upto now Grant has alternated Joe and billy, so does this mean he rotates between the three?
This guy has scored 10 goals in 100 appearances.
Doesn’t sound like a statement signing to me.

Although I hope he is better than this, so good luck to him.

Listening to GM interview I believe this is the player he was talking about. Interest from a lot of clubs Sporting Director came to the club 4year contract at Lincoln in his first year signed for an undisclosed fee from Cheltenham played in league one for Shrewsbury and Cheltenham played at Newport before that. We can only see if he does the business whether up front or wide.

Using the term 'Statement signing' was always going to be one of those that folk will interpret differently. Even I assumed it would mean a permanent signing (which McCann did clarify as a loan). Some folk might be thinking of a known name etc.

The best thing we can do is save the judgement till the end of the season to see if he was Streets ahead and whether his signing was a crossroads in our season.

I liked O’Neill, I thought he was going to be great for us

We only have keep doing what we’re doing and Limp over that 3rd place line and everyone will be more than happy.

Welcome Rob Street, anyone with a bit of height & pace up front is a welcome addition in my opinion. Grant's no mug, he'll know where we need strengthening. He's also fit & ready to go by the sounds of it.

Great news, welcome lad.

I'd head he was off to Bradford Park Avenue, and that they were also in for Ben Close and Bukayo Cul-De-Saka.

Avenue got owt better to do?

We need someone who can stretch defences so it makes sense that we've signed someone with pace. Hopefully he can use it to good effect.

But, regardless of how well Street ends up doing for us, building him up as a "statement signing" just isn't helpful IMO.

Still remains the same that 'Statement' means different things to different people.

I can see him playing down our right side and swapping Moly to the left. Looking forward to seeing him wherever he plays.

It’s a one way street to league 1 now. All avenues lead to promotion.

Credit where it’s due to the media team, they put  “We're not quite done with the quality Street just yet...” before announcing it.
