The numpty in the West Stand….
« on January 04, 2025, 05:35:10 pm by Filo »
78 mins gone, we’re chasing the game and Sterry has a ball and the numpty decides to launch the ball that went into the stands onto the pitch, we really do have some thicko’s watching us!

It hit Sterry and didn’t enter the field of play didn’t it?

It did, but thats not the point really, just think about our position in the game, you do that when the opposition is chasing the game, not when we are

I agree but you said launched onto the pitch? So it wasn’t really as bad an incident as you are suggesting.

He was probably just throwing it back lol.
Maybe he thought he was helping in the heat of the moment.
No point in exaggerating things, no harm done.

It did, what surprised me was that Sterry stayed on his feet.

Fair enough, from the South Stand it looked like it bounced along pitch side.
Still, I imagine the guy was just getting the ball back and trying to help, rather than stop us playing…

Maybe if we had more than three ball boys then the crowd wouldn’t have to get involved!

Can i just say it was a person who was waiting to go out and he was standing in the Disabled area, threw ball towards Sterry , the person went down on his haunches made some comment and went out from the disabled area ..........just so any dont think the numpty was a Disabled or carer supporter

Is it meaningless though?
what if we took a quick throw in, someone went through on goal and the ref stops play because one of our home fans throws the ball back on the pitch? Fans just need to think before doing that, roll it down the steps or something, throw it onto the pitch when the opposition are trying to take a quick throw, not our team

Can’t recall the game but possibly Tranmere I recall two balls being on the pitch, ref spotted it as we were on the attack but he allowed play to continue. Depends on the ref and although I can see where you’re coming from with that explanation but your basically complaining about something that had zero effect on the game other than it hitting sterrys back.

Well, happened 3 times today once from the West Stand and twice from the South Stand, the second one from the South Stand was a kick out of the hands from the front row, why not just drop it over the wall?

McCann looked to want a ball boy to be quicker, we took the throw, three passes later our keeper had it.

Ball boys are there to put the balls on the cones now. They are not ball boys in the traditional sense.

TSL had them fired up towards end of game but blew one opportunity when he played a moving ball

Ref was " miles away " but spotted it even though to me even further away it looked to have stopped

When you consider what the ref did miss during the game, and allow to happen, such as throw ins a significant distance from where the ball went out, what difference would slightly moving ball have made, even if it had been slightly moving.

I believe it was only his third game refereeing in the league. He looked every bit like a rookie.

It was the first game he has refereed in the league Usher although he has had two league games as fourth official.
