What an absolutely devastating situation this is turning into. Unimaginable loss, houses livestock, pets, businesses etc.

We really are lucky in the UK that with the we don’t get to experience these wildfires.

So thankful that the media are flying in from all around America and the world in their co2 burning planes, to tell us what we'd be able to see anyways, and to tell us it's climate change

Yes , the irony eh ?

I still don't get why they have to go out in Hurricanes to show us how windy it is. I was in one South of Orlando that demonstrated to me what 100mph winds could do

However I also had a good idea of what they might do after years of watching the wind in action over here

I also don't need to see 60 mph winds somewhere in Wales throwing waves over the Town behind the breakwater to demonstrate how rough the Sea can get with the Reporter pointing out that "people , should avoid the sea front" while they , er , stand on the sea front

The one that gets my goat though is when reporters are sent to report an upcoming Hurricane and get wherever it is to show a flat calm sea , and a blue sky and tell us " well it's quiet here now but in 26 hours , expect to see blah blah blah "

Wow .... Thats a con man in action right there UNLESS and it's a billion to one shot that they are in the eye and he's a few yards away in the most ferocious part of the Hurricane

Chances as stated a billion to one

That was the notable thing in the Hurricane I witnessed , in that I kept saying we will have to watch for the Eye passing over us

It raged on and on for hours and then suddenly , flat calm . Then after a long calm spell , back came the wind but of course travelling in the opposite direction

Unfortunately it didn't reroot any of the trees or untangle any of the hundreds of traffic lights it had messed up nor did it put the roof back on our Lanai over swimming pool

Just been watching a report from Pacific Pallisades Malibu Beach, ALLGONE UP IN SMOKE,
Now I now they are very rich people but I hope that they are safe , feel for the Fire Brigade, they have a lot of Convicts working for them and they do lose a lot of Firefighters to the Fires each year.
The financial side is less important but if you google Malibu beach property for sale you had to stunt up $10/12 Million for an average property there, the Insurance companies are estimating $150 billion in payouts. By the sound of it the Insurance companies will only pay out up to 40% ,this is due to fires in recent years and companies pulling out of the California Market as too much of a risk!
One lady was standing in the ruins of a massive house and the one thing that upset her most was a lifetime of family photos all gone.
Wishing them well.

Yes , interviewee yesterday said 70% of all residents have no Insurance whatsoever after the big Insurers including his, State Farm , declined to cover the area from last year and most of rest followed suit

Despite having reporters there already I see the BBC has sent Clive Myrie over to stand in front of the wreckage and look statesman like.
