One of the Worlds greatest strikers.
Although not a Man Utd fan I used to try to model my game on his scoring ability.
RIP great man.

Not many players have been great strikers for both Man Utd and Man City, if any at all other than him.

RIP Denis.

Strange most of us are not Man Utd fans but we have the greatest respect for the majority of their past players. Dennis Law was a great player. His words at George Best’s funeral service were so honest, no bull. A legend who we will remember.

Not strange for my part mate.
I always give respect to people who I think deserve it.
Players like Best, Law and Charlton were on my list of people who deserved respect.

RIP bit before my time but looked class in the footage I’ve seen, especially the goal that (finally) relegated Utd and how he carried himself

As teenagers a lot of us held Law as a rôle model .Law Charlton and Best   were brilliant together at Man U but of the three Dennis was my favourite .
How can we every forget him scoring for City against his beloved United with a back- heel! Sadly another footballing victim of Alzheimers since 2021 .

I remember that well and I think it was the first time I saw a player score and not celebrate the goal.
Class.

A proper footballer, one of the best I saw, his impact on a game was huge, not just the goals he scored, on his good days, and  there were many, he ‘ran the show’.

…you seem to be confusing two people!!!

We know Rod Stewart was a football fan with a passing resemblance to the great footballer that was Denis Law, a man of considerable wisdom and very interesting to listen to. I was very sad to hear this sad news and that it was vascular dementia that took his life.

I think it was Nobby Stiles recalling an England v Scotland game at Wembley.
Stood in the tunnel Nobby approached Dennis with a smile and a handshake  Dennis shook his mane of hair hissed and grunted and ignored him completely.  No friendship in an old enemy International!
RIP

A legend. I was a nipper in the early 70’s but remember watching on MOTD and finding it hard to believe he played for United and City. What a player though. Right up there.

Denis Bergkamp’s dad named his son in honour of Dennis Law.

You have your Denis’ mixed up.

It’s Denis Law (one ‘n’) & Dennis Bergcamp (two ‘n’s’)

As for the pollock posting a photo of Rod Stewart, as has been said, show some respect…moron.

That back heel Denis scored for City was pure instinct. No celebrations because not only did he not want to leave Man Utd, but that goal & result saw his beloved Red Devils relegated to division two.

I always gripped my football shirts cuffs because I’d seen it was a trait of this very special footballer. Unfortunately it never helped my goal figures.

Injured when United lifted the European Cup in 1967 otherwise he would have been in the starting line up instead of John Aston.

After eleven years at Man Utd he’d scored 237 goals in 404 games in all competitions. Only Bobby Charlton & Rooney have scored more goals for United.

In 2021 Denis was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s & vascular dementia. We lost him yesterday.

Condolences to his family. He was special & I ‘loved’ him.

RIP Denis.

Denis Bergkamp’s dad named his son in honour of Dennis Law.

There is a bit more to this story. Bergkamp's parents wanted to name him Denis (how Law spelt it), but this was refused by the Dutch authorities who thought it sounded like the girl's name Denise (think Debby Harry singing Den-ee, Den-ee), so they were forced to change the spelling to Dennis

In any case RIP to a true legend of the game. All his contemporaries say great things about him as a person as well as a player, and that says a huge amount.

RIP, long before my time but I’m well aware of how good a player he was. Dennis Bergkamp is one of my favourite all time non-Rovers players as well so have always loved that connection - one great named after another.

Probably the only player to score six goals and end up on the losing side. Beating Luton 6-0 when the game was abandoned with about 20 minutes to go.
Lost the replayed game 3-1 with Denis getting City’s goal.

Met the great man in 1972 as he and his Utd team mates were invited to my local football club
at RAF Gatow in Berlin for our summer dinner/dance . Utd had played in a  game to celebrate 75 years
of Berlin Ballspiel-Verein ,  held at the Olympic Stadium with the game finishing 2-2 but Denis was
injured early on in the game .
Have vivid memories of our raffle being drawn by Denis , Alex Stepney , David Sadler and I just
missed out on the star prize !

As a young scroat I was taken to Bramall Lane to watch Blades v Man Utd in 1968

Forward line of Best Crerand Charlton Law and Kidd.
Still etched in my memory.

Back to Belle Vue the next week.

It might have been David Herd.
Crerand was usually right half (number four).
