Do the club benefit.....
« on January 17, 2025, 10:19:50 pm by Ryaldinhio »
From match day food and drinks sale?

Does anyone know how it works? Do the club get a % of sales etc?

I've always spent money ASSUMING it helps the club. But getting a bit fed up at paying extortionate price for bottles of pop for the little ones when I could just bring them some in.

That said if the club get a chunk I don't mind carrying on.

If course they do.

Thanks for the detailed and insightful response  :headbang:

I expected they get something but was wondering what that actually is.

I think a 500ml bottle of tango is something like £2.90 which is ridiculous, but if the club get 50% fair enough I will carry on.

If the club get 5%........probably not.

Maybe we get income for renting out the space to the vendors of the food and drink too.

Fook no I don't.

OP says 'does anyone know?'

A more suitable response would have been 'no I don't' if that's the case.

I expect the vendors pay a fee for the space then there is likely a % of sales aswell.

I was just wondering what that looked like if anyone had a clue that's all.

Yes I know mate, I was just adding another benefit that we get for those who might not know that.

Maybe a good question for the Meet the Owners event, although you might want to change the closed nature of the question if you don't want a 'Yes' answer.

I might be different to others but if I knew the club were getting a fair chunk it would encourage me to spend more.

I have thought before about there being 'collection pots' in the stadium. Not that we are a charity case, but I buy these bottles of pop and chips sometimes when we don't really need or want them but I like to think I'm putting a little bit more into the club. I wouldn't mind chucking a couple quid in a pot each game. That's effectively what I'm trying to do. Also there are people who would probably chuck a bit of change in that dont/won't buy from the snap cabin. Maybe that's worth considering.

All depends on the situation with the catering.

Some South Yorkshire clubs use contract catering such as Sodexo where the agreement is most likely a flat rate which could be scaled to average attendance or the likes.

Other clubs in South Yorkshire do it in house. These will most likely work to a GP % but will also most likely have a contract in place with suppliers which will see a rebate paid most likely a % based on spend.

The benefit of doing it in house is you have much better control over suppliers, GP and menu and cut out the middle man who want to earn their cut.
The biggest downside is the staffing.

We have all experienced the difficulties from a consumer when clubs use contract catering.

Rovers use a local contract catering company called DN4.

Given the Stadium is cash free, how many actually take cash to the game

I guess the ready-made way of doing that and all of the contribution going to the club would be to buy some of the Red & White raffle tickets each game.

Except programmes and raffle.

Yep, very fair point.

I'm going to start that. Thanks pal.

Probably a fixed fee with gainshare based on volumes above certain amounts I would guess.  Catering company likely have the same type of clawback if attendance is below x.

You should see the prices over here in the states at footie games. $16 for a pint of craft beer. And thick end of $20 for a burger with chips. It was brilliant being back home over Christmas and paying Rovers prices.
