Thanks for the responses. Just to clarify I was in no way suggesting that we are a ‘big’ team, we know our place, administration twice and being 45 minutes from not existing are sobering enough. It’s more how any team outside the big six can ever be seen as a good draw. Maybe Newcastle and Villa and even Everton to some extent can push that but history seems to play a big part. Look at Leicester, League Champions and FA Cup winners in the last few years and you probably wouldn’t have wanted to draw them any more than us.

And btw for the previous poster there is no way Man Utd or Spurs finish above Palace this season, they are mid Championship teams atm at best.

Obviously hope we win tomorrow but whatever happens I genuinely wish you well for the rest of the season and hope you get promoted. Not always the case but your fans have been top class in your responses and analysis of the game. Good luck!

Interesting to read your comments about this not being a glamour tie and Palace not being a big draw, and largely I understand and respect your views. However the football landscape has changed. I am sure you would want one of the so called ‘Big Six’ instead.

However Palace have being in the Premier League for 12 consecutive seasons the 8th best amongst top flight teams. We currently boast 4 full England Internationals on top of full Internationals from several other countries. We just sold Olise to Bayern Munich, a player that will eventually win the Ballon D’or for £55 million. A new stand is increasing our capacity to 34500 with plans to further increase the stadium to 40000-45000. Compare the likes of Palace, Forest, Brighton, Brentford to the likes of Spurs, Man Utd who are absolutely woeful atm and currently Man City (financial/legal concerns) and Chelsea (say no more) and all those teams are better run and play better football than their ‘bigger’ counterparts. Currently only Arsenal and Liverpool I would deem real ‘glamour ties’ and Arsenal are already out.

The big six are living on their history but things are changing and drawing lower Premier League opposition like Spurs and Man Utd is not what it used to be, but would give you a great chance of progressing.

I think the fact that we have pretty much sold out the home allocation on a monday night shows that plenty of people still would class this as a glamour tie

We have played Palace in the league in fairly recent memory. That’s why it doesn’t feel like a really big game. Same could be said for Newcastle, Brighton, Leicester and others…

Not only did we play Crystal palace and beat them, we finished above them in the league table 2 years running.

This certainly isn't a glamour tie, it's a big game, but not a glamour tie by any stretch.

With the greatest respect to Palace, I think we'd stand more chance beating Man U right now. Palace are a better team so in the extremely remote possibility we win the tie, I'm sure it will be regarded as the best cup result in our history.

I see we have virtually sold out the blocks made available, given there is still 2 days, why have we not released another block?

I think Palace are a great club. I wish we had been drawn away. They are doing great in the premier league, regularly take points off the so called bigger teams and develop international players.
I suspect that they do great work in the community as well
I wonder how many of our fans would like to swop places with them?

Now announced as sold out in the home sections. But that doesn't include any seats available in W32 and W33.....or any blocks left in the north stand.

For what it's worth I see any tie against a Prem team as a glamour tie. Teams like ours don't get to play against high quality teams very often & we should embrace it & hope we can pull off a miracle. Of all the Prem teams Palace are one of the teams I love watching most along with Newcastle & Forest. They all play really exciting football & like to entertain. Whatever the result on Monday I will enjoy the tie.

The only worry I have when we play TLOPalace, a steady mid table team, is they put out strong teams whilst the big 6 always play a mixture of 1st team, fringe players and youth which always give a chance, remote as it may be, of an upset.
I fear Palace will be too  strong for us tomorrow, I do hope I'm wrong

It’s a historic occasion because given the clubs status as a fourth tier club it’s the first time it’s reached the fourth round whilst playing in the fourth tier of the football league pyramid.

It’s also worth noting the last time the club played an FA Cup tie against a team from the top flight as a fourth tier club was 51 years ago versus Liverpool when the two clubs met in round three during January 1974.

All the tickets have been sold, will be more in the 13-14k region, I'd say 13,800 - then again I don't know how many Palace have sold so could be under 13k

Not in the away end they haven't. You are miles off with that prediction.

Against Crewe it was a home sell out, plus half of the north stand, plus the Crewe section, and the attendance was 12889.

For this game it sounds like the arrangements haven’t been made to segregate the North Stand and have Rovers fans in part of it, so if Palace aren’t bringing the full 3k I would assume part of the North Stand will be empty. Presumably we can only segregate it half way along as the concourse needs segregating as well as the stand itself.

Therefore I would imagine the earlier prediction of 11.8k won’t be too far off.

Phenomenal effort to have a home sell out for this game anyway. Palace are clearly a great club and have gone to a whole new level since we used to go toe-to-toe with them in the Championship, but this is the sort of appetite for tickets that you’d expect if it was Spurs or Liverpool. Great effort.

Unlikely to be 13+ the palace fan stated they had been given N39-44 so still leaves N34-35

Palace may not be the “name” that Liverpool or Arsenal, Man Utd etc might be, but at the moment they seem to be a club on the up.  Without a cataclysmic collapse in form, they’re not in a relegation battle and IMHO are realistic contenders to win the cup.  I expect they’ll pick a virtually first choice 11.

As much as I would want to see a shock, I can’t see anything but a comfortable Palace win tomorrow.  Hopefully we’ll turn up as a team and  make them work hard for it, create something ourselves and I’ll be happy if we can score.  Losing by 3 or even 4 won’t be an embarrassment against them at all.

Anything else is a massive bonus.

Don’t pick up injuries and silly suspensions trying to play the hero either.

Blocks N34-N37 not sold so far
Block E45 not used due to segregation
Blocks W32-33 not for sale.

Looks like palace will be leaving 1500 empty seats in our away end. Holds about 3.2k

This.

Back in the 80s/90s when it was nearly 2 generations since we'd been in Tier 2, a tie like Palace (who we had in the League Cup in the early 80s) was massive.

Now it merely a decent tie. That's no slur on Palace, just a statement of fact.

Expect Eze and Munoz to be the only changes, although he may bring Chilwell in for Mitchell. OG will go very strong initially and hope to bring players on if we could get the lead.

When played them in the League Cup in 81 the away leg was the same day as the Oxford Street bombing, traffic was even more chaotic than usual in London, we just made it to Selhurst Park for kick off. One the first buses Mr Mayfield ran, I wonder if he carried on organising them  ?

Fully expect you to have it sewn up in half an hour, probably be 2-0 by then.

I wonder……not really as I remember it.

We didn’t get many attractive FA Cup ties back then because I don’t remember us getting past the 2nd round much and then only 3 decent ties (Everton and Liverpool x2) ties so in a sense it’s an academic question.

We played them in Division 4 in the 60s when we were on the way down from the old Second Division. We played a lot of southern England teams for the first time then, clubs that were previously in Division 3 (South) and Palace were one of these. In fact, and I looked it up, Palace were in the First Division for 7 (non-consecutive) seasons in the 30 between the 60s and the end of the 80s and spent most of their time in Division 2. Of course Malcolm Alison also earned them a lot of publicity, off the field at least.

What you could anticipate back then was that top clubs did not put out weakened teams in the cup. Perhaps this was because they had smaller squads and the FA Cup was more important. It ranked alongside the First Division title until the 70s at least.

And CiM - you could say that, but our friend from CP says they WON’T do what most top teams have been doing for a while - not putting out their best 11. … well done Plymouth.

Reasonably consistent record of us being cheated by officials at Palace. Be good to get a rub of the green with the ref and his stooges on Monday evening.
