Champagne Charlie

Young Crew at 18 years of age has now played in 5 Football League games in his career.

Won all 5.

Must be easy when you're a talented young lad in a team of talented young lads.

I wonder what the record is for consecutive start-of-career wins?

He’s got a bright future, can play but not afraid the get stuck in as well, a massive upgrade on what we’ve had there all season, I was a bit worried when he was taken off yesterday, Broadbent is nowhere near as mobile and light years behind him reading the game

He'll be better long term than Matty Craig.

That’s a certainty I think. I don’t think Craig is that good.

Thing I like about playing in that position is mobility and a yard of pace. You desperately need that to play there at the top level. I think he’s got enough of both. The days of putting a hatchet man or a good passer that’s a plodder in that position have gone.

I agree about Broadbent but tbf George played really well when he came on yesterday.

He’s raised eyebrows like a latter day Ian Snodin.

Wish he was ‘one of ours’ on a four year contract!

Yes, agreed George did do well when he came on but if he was as good as Charlie then he would be on considerably higher wages and not playing for a L2 team.

Definitely. He's got the ability to close players quickly and wrap himself around them using his longer limbs to smother them and tease the ball away. Sure, he may give the odd foul away but it will help our ability to increase the turnovers.

His ability in tight areas is really good.

He drops back in when one of the centre halves go forward, but will be as good as Dan Crowley the ultimate team player !!

It took Matty a few games to get going after that I thought he was pretty good.
I notice he wasn’t in the Mansfield squad yesterday.

Charlie has hit the ground running, just unfortunate he got booked early yesterday which lead to him being taken off, although he does seems to have a good level of fitness, even more remarkable given the games he has played before joining us.
He’s certainly up with some of our best loan players.

None of our players got booked yesterday? He got booked early against Barrow? I just think the early sub is to ease his fitness in.
