Could hear a pin drop most of the match. Quietest they've been all season, bizzare.

Yes thought it was odd considering how full it was. Also the number of people bailing out at 80 mins was unreal. Why?

I ended up being in the west stand tonight and i totally agree. Sadly thought the atmosphere was very flat. Maybe the 5th round draw didnt help.

When these premier league teams want to keep the ball like they did for most of the first half, it completely takes the buzz out of the evening. It’s dull and boring and very hard to get the atmosphere going. It was very likely part of their team talk!

The black bank singers moving to the corner didn’t help.

The Black Bank have been brilliant the last couple of games but very disappointing tonight.
They only started singing with ten minutes to go, very odd.

Could other parts of the ground not get some chants going?

Could other parts of the ground not get some chants going?

It was very cringey when the guy on the mic walked to each stand pre match and asked for a cheer. I genuinely didn’t hear a thing when it was the east stands turn.

Cant hear anything in the west stand, haven't done for weeks since the game when they were doing some 'tests' with the tanniy system.

He’s cringy full stop!

Ought to be nowhere near a football club. Kids birthday parties about his level.

Lots of new faces about tonight. Two Eastern Europeans in front of us left on 80 minutes. One of them turned to me & asked “Can you smoke here?” I should have said yes!

Yeah I don’t think it help by the drum being pushed into the corner, and took majority of those leading the singing with it, sort of split thing up a little with the normal.
Something to consider for any future big games.

We went into west stand (for first time) because we knew we would be arriving late and didn’t want to chance in our normal south stand.
OMG it was like sitting amongst cardboard cut outs! Very little enthusiasm and not even any applause few game, how supporters can sit quietly through a performance like that is beyond me.
Will never go into the west again.

Absolutely dreadful last night. Does our drum even work. You could probably hear Palace fans and their drum from town last night. We are miles off it when it comes to support. Palace fans were excellent I thought

What were you expecting? We are normally quiet at home anyway, the ones that do sing were spread out, add to that a few thousand 'tourists'.

And that is being compared to 2000ish hard core fans traveling from London on a Monday night, getting home at early hours of the morning........

They were always going to sing louder and longer.

I don't get what the obsession is, we have never had a reputation of being noisy.

Considering v Everton and Crewe the last big crowds the home end was ace. Much better than last night.

Obsession? Weird comment

The palace fans were noisy, but I always think they are a bit plastic and cringey, it's like their whole support is orchestrated.
As far as them singing "ole's" against a league 2 club, well like I said, cringey.

Didn’t hear palace fans much if I’m being honest and expected better. That being said, I was in the south west corner so that might be one of the areas of the ground ‘noise doesn’t travel to’

12,739 attendance given by BBC.

I sit in the West Stand. When we moved to the new stadium I imagined there would be a ‘group of singers’ who would want to be closer to the away end so they could ‘sing down’ the away supporters & initially there was but over the years it dwindled & I guess they moved ‘South’.

I like that ‘side on view’ of the pitch (we had that on the Popside at Belle Vue of course) as you get a better perspective of the match & we sit three quarters way up about 15-20 yards from the away end penalty area so any goals at that end we can see perfectly.

When the supporters (season ticket) were asked where they wanted to sit in the stadium Andy Liney gave us some good advice. He told us the sun would be directly in the eyes of those sitting in the East Stand so the West Stand it was.

Me & my brother still clap & chant “Rovers” and go ape when we score but two pensioners singing “Super Grant McCann” on their own just doesn’t work!

Me & my brother chose our seats on that basis

Our normal core of fans is diluted & dis-placed by all the extra interest, what does anyone expect, that they'll all know all the songs & pipe up?
I didn't know I'd be able to make it until late last week, by then I thought let them have their day, see you's on Saturday.

This is the Palace group that came up last night. It is not cringe, it's effort.

They also made the effort to put out a banner criticising the FA for moving the kick off. Something I think we all agree with. Yet all we could do was mock them for not selling their tickets. I'd rather have their cringe any day if that's what it's called

It's supposed to be coordinated. Is that not the whole point of a group sitting together and singing. The alternate being last night and silence

I loved the banner - well done them!

But mocking them for not selling their tickets?!
All I've seen from Rovers fans on this forum is huge respect for the numbers of Palace fans who made the journey.

That what I have seen to Pancho.
However, I was surprised by how little noise we made from the South Stand last night.
There weren’t many attempts to get songs started and even then, there seemed to be less of the core singers doing that.
I didn’t know though that they had apparently been split up or that the drum wasn’t in its usual position.

It's not even like we can migrate over to the north end of West stand as blocks 31,32, and  33 are not for sale.

That would be something I would get on bought with.

Didn’t realise it was Greeny on the pitch at half time, whatever they did to test the sound system they need to undo

Migrate to the West stand with me & my brother Nudga if you want noise.

There’s a woman sits in front of us who gives us regular updates on Premiership scores. A bloke two seats away from me can sneeze for England AND each sneeze is accompanied by a fart whose volume seems to be little impaired by the thermals, long johns & corduroy trousers he always confirms he has on to all & sundry before taking his seat….& farting (this he try’s to muffle with a loud cough but his timings well off. Like his guts.).

We also have a couple of blokes behind us who always ask one another what minutes they’re going to leave on, “Is it 85th for you?”, “Probably yeah. Might go on 83”. And this all before a balls been kicked! Mind you that’s not ‘noise’ of course, just Repetitive Annoyance Syndrome.

However, there is a bloke four rows down from us, slightly to our left, who does have a belter of a booming voice.

Now this fella, (I’m surprised you haven’t heard him from the South Stand) when he lets rip he could take the tiles off your roof. Problem is he saves ‘his moment’ for the away supporters after they’ve usually finished their version of ‘Donny’s a sh***ole, I want to go home’….his ‘big moment’ arrives, “F*** OFF!”. After 10 years of this I still physically jump & I swear, the away supporters are stunned into silence momentarily as they search, heads moving in all directions, for the source of this ‘animalistic bellow’ before possibly putting it down to some supersonic boom from a passing jet. Only those two words to my knowledge ever escape this man’s mouth. Perhaps he works on the theory that ‘less is more’?

Oh yes, all this & a game to watch too!

Come join us. Ear plugs not included.

The corners are even worse acoustics wise in an already dreadful stadium for acoustics.

Everton have built their new ground perfect and wish ours was made more with fans in mind. Pushing the limit on elevation, close to the pitch and the ground made so any noise makes an absolute racket.

Will be some matchday experience for Everton next season for sure.

South stand is about 20 yards from the goal line!!

I'd forgotten how annoying someone giving premier league updates is, we used to have a couple around us that did that a few years back. For one, I'm at Rovers, it's the only game I care about, shut up & watch the game. Secondly though, I do like to watch motd later, not knowing the scores, never mind scorers.
There's only one mildly annoying guy near us now, & he's not every game, youngish lad who judges every player on what they do when he plays FIFA. I can usually switch off, thankfully.
