Contracts expiring at the end of the season
« on February 18, 2025, 08:03:27 am by ncRover »
Because of our reliance on loans again we will have another big rebuild in the summer.

Let’s at least look our players whose deals are coming to an end:

Olowu - Obviously a keep we need to go up to have a chance. Even if we do, he may get a better offer. No chance he plays in L2. He’s crazy if he does.

Sharp - Let him go. He’s desperate to hit a personal milestone but hinders us. We shouldn’t let a few more goals towards the end of the season make us all nostalgic and repeat the same mistake we made with signing him in the first place.

Broadbent - A decent L2 player. He’s nowhere near as bad as people make out and is made a scapegoat before others every time. But he’s at an age he needs to be first choice and a team with our aspirations probably won’t offer that.

Sterry - Keep. Has L1 technical ability.

Anderson - Thanks for the memories but time to move on. We can get someone younger and more promising. Been a great servant to the club.

Wood - Let him go. Another summer mistake because we weren’t brave enough to deviate away from continuity.

Senior - Keep if in L2 but upgrade if in L1. I like him though, he’s a good back 3 / back up LB option. He may look to be first choice somewhere though.

Lawlor - Let him go. A sub-optimal signing in the first place when we should have got a no.1. Was plenty available that summer and could have cost us promotion relying on him and Jones.

What does everything else think?

Let's be honest how many games has our midfield dominated anyone we are slow in thought and movement, our strikers are one dimensional and pedestrian, we have got to find a way to keep Molly in the game as a number 10 perhaps, after 50yrs of watching the ups and downs we seem to be standing still.

Defo need to keep Olowu. I would also keep Broadbent and Sterry. I’m on the fence with Senior. I like him but he was poor against Grimsby - I’m not sure he would be good enough in league one
I would keep Lawlor as a number 2. He is experienced and probably be getting paid peanuts. Rather than look for 2 keepers we need to focus on a solid number one (TLT?)

Sharp, Anderson and Wood haven’t got the pace for league one

Agree with nc, only one I'd potentially change is Senior to keep as backup, but then again he isn't the type of left back we need if Maxwell was to get injured. Definitely a decent LCB option.

I’d keep Sharp. Still fit as a fiddle. He wants another year.
