The lads out on loan

  Two of the lads clashed in the  game Peterborough Sports and  Darlington Sam Brown playing for Peterborough and Will Flint at Darlington.
   Having a small squad and a host of defensive injuries meant that Darlington went into this game with a weakened side that was very young and many of their experienced players missing, and the resulting 4-1 result not that big a surprise.
   Never the less the main object of loans for young players is for them to get experience play a lot of games and progress their ability. In Will Flints case he is very much achieving those aims and was praised even in defeat for keeping going personally showing a maturity that belied his age breaking play up, doing the simple thing and even in defeat playing well on a personal note., one of only a few on the day where Darlington matched the quality of the Peterborough players. When your side is taking a beating, and you personally have done well, its all you can do for personal satisfaction, and is noticed by others.
  Sam Brown also played well for Peterborough Sports and claimed the bragging rights from Will, the game being a bit scrappy suited his all action game, only a second year scholar to hold his own at this level against some experienced good players he is doing exceptionally well, has lots of energy and covers a lot of ground, has an all round game, not scared to put a foot in, and gets involved in the action in midfield and his passing game and awareness of space is improving as he has raised his game playing at better levels.
  Bobby Faulkner was the corner stone of Buxton's excellent 1-0 win v Brackley who started the game in second place in a win that propelled  Buxton up to sixth place and a play off position.
  Since he joined Buxton they have had five clean sheets in his fifteen games, compared with  five in the previous   24 games, and he has scored 2 goals, won a penalty and two assists in the oppositions area and has had a distinct effect on the success rate of the Buxton team and has had some good players under wraps  during games, and regularly gets a good mention in John McGraths after game summaries.

Reckon Flint could be an option as the deeper midfielder in a McCann team in future Selby?

  Yes very much so, in fact I would have him and Faulkner back now and play them.  As it is they could play next week for Buxton and Darlington as we don't have a game.
  For anyone interested Will Flint should be playing at Alfreton on Tuesday evening.

Injury pushed him down the pecking order and the form of Anderson and Wood and a radio interview in Ireland highlighting his family connections with the military, He never played another minute after that, and the clubs(Dundalk) financial problems and the owners insistence for the manager to play contracted players to try and off load them from the books putting them in the shop window also added to his frustration, plus not being able to play in November and December because he had played in Ireland.
  The last two full games he played he played in the first team he got awarded both MOM's v Walsall in the last game of a season where he scored and v Everton u23's in the EFL cup.

For someone who follows football in the island of Ireland I find the comment about the military very very surprising. As I’ve mentioned before I follow Glentoran who are from East Belfast, which for those who don’t know is very red,white and blue, one of the favourite players of the vast majority of the supporters and he’s even got his own song is Patrick McClean, and yes his brother is the Wrexham winger. All the teams on both side of border have players of different nationalities, and religions

Selby I love Bobby and really really hope he can push on particularly at Rovers, however I stand by the fact that the emergence of Jay has pushed Bobby back a bit. I wasn’t being inflammatory

  More the form of Olowu on the right side and no qualms with that the lad has been very good.
  This season he lost the first five months, last season he missed all season due to a botched first operation on his ligaments being detached from the bone in his foot therefore requiring two operations and recuperation in the season.
 He has only played in poor sides at the Rovers, never actually played with Wood and Anderson as a partner the oldest was Olowu when he was 21 years old and not the player he is now, and played his football for the first team in a relegation side in division 1 not 2 for the Rovers as a seventeen/18 year old and won MOM's at that level and scored goals.
 I think some on here commenting on his ability have never seen him actually play and if they have are comparing a 17/18  year old player with someone 2i/2 in Jay. Believe me he is a unit now who can play.
