Shouldn't play for us again.

He's been poor all season too .
Signed with the heart not the head. Times up Billy.

Stupid from Billy. Lost his head over nothing. Banned for three games just when we need everyone!

Billy didn’t lose his head, he planted it into his opponent’s back.

I think his time is up . Thanks for everything Billy. Not a good way to end it all but he has given Mcann a decision to make .we need strikers to be fit all season and able to play consistent full games. Thanks for the memories. He is an expensive luxury. We need fresh young fit stamina filled strikers.

McCann has some major decisions to make this summer. As it stands, the only contracted centre back is Jay McGrath and the only contracted centre forward is Joe Ironside. To be generous you could at least say he has a blank slate.

I was just a few feet away behind the goal in the south stand - as soon as he did it I said to my brother it was a straight red. F***ing stupid for anyone, but a player of his age and experience - I have no words!  :headbang:

I wonder if our Billy is contemplating the fact that he may have just played his last 40 seconds in a Doncaster shirt, if so an ignominious end for a Donny legend. Also, I can't help thinking that if you are going to t**t someone in a football match you should at least do it properly and to hell with the consequences. It looked to me more like he was trying to give his opponent a kiss.

It's just a very bad example to the younger players how an experienced pro should conduct themselves, plus when we already had a man advantage.

You have to be joking.
He was silly today, but he has not been poor all season.
Unfortunately with some game time, our system has not suited him, and most supporters realise that.

If you are giving a red for that, the game has gone!

Look at the reaction of Lewis after the ref shows the card....bullying works!
if your going to do what Billy did, then you risk getting sent off, let himself down the club, and the fans, most of all his teammates, silly

I wasn't saying it was not a daft thing to do, it clearly was silly.
But was it worth a straight red, without any previous involvement?

We have all seen loads of incidents far worse that pass by without any punishment....look at the tackle by the Palace lad on Ennis in the FA cup, far worse but then he stays on and scores.

It is about sorting out the dangerous from the petty.

It was a soft red really, you also have to ask why Lewis wasn’t punished, he had 2 goes at Billy.
Unfortunately Billy was sat watching all the Wimbledon antics, especially Lewis, and would have been has frustrated as the rest of us.
That said he should have been professional enough not to have retaliated.

Billy winds himself up to get in the zone, he tries to lead by example when he is on the pitch with his work rate, and desire - I think hoping it will rub off on the others.

He is no shrinking violet though as we know, and he will not let anyone take a free shot at him. Lewis knew that and the reason he had the huge grin when he saw the ref hand the red out! Did him like a kipper.
I also wonder if there was any previous with Lewis at their place.

Typical dick statement. He hasn’t been poor. He’s scored 10 goals in total this season. He still has something to offer.

No excuse.

Billy Sharp done like a kipper by a ‘never has been’.

I trust Billy’s hurting as much as those he let down today.

When Billy was coming on the Wimbledon bench were sending messages onto the pitch for Lewis-it all seemed slightly pre planned and Billy fell for it, no excuse for it plain stupidity

Anyone remember the match at Wimbledon some years ago when they very deliberately engineered a red card for John Marquis - first one player running 30 yards to get in JM’s face, a yellow for each, and then a second yellow through despicable clearly pre-meditated play by Ramsdale who caught the ball, JM was jogging back and Ramsdale, from behind, locked his arm around JM’s and brought him down, and all the Wimbledon players ran to the ref to accuse JM of impeding a quick throw by Ramsdale. BST put frame by frame photos clearly showing it.

The story of Wimbledon is fabulous, and what a great set of fans, but their players are masters of the dark arts that are ruining the beautiful game.

Not sure he’s played his last game for us. He’s out for 3 and he’ll return straight to the fold as an impact player. But him and Ironside should be shipped in the summer.

I hope he hasn't played his last game for us because when he's back, he will win us promotion and hopefully help us maintain a League 1 position.

No buts, he is an idiot and as an experienced pro should not be reacting the way he did.

It was a deserved red whether he made contact or not, it was violent intent, and if I was Grant I’d be furious.

It’d be interesting if we’d signed ‘AN Other’ senior pro in the summer with no previous affiliation with the Rovers to see what the assessment would be.

I think Billy gets a lot of slack because of our history together. We’d be more critical (in my opinion) of any other senior player who’d come in the summer who’d had the input Billy has had this year.

That being said, he’s had big impact on some games, Walsall h, Bradford a, Kettering single handed, and I don’t think he’s been utilised well enough by Grant.

Steve Nichol’s experience didn’t do us any harm.

Neither did Alan Warboys, Neil Sullivan, Rob Jones, Copps….

And undervalued in equal measure.  Look at the youngsters in our squad and the slack they're given for naivety and basic lack of nouse and then consider the cost to the team that goes with that.

Maybe they are just not good enough and it’s nothing to do with experience. Plenty of young players in the prem playing at 17/18/19yo.
