Throw ins v Wimbledon
« on April 20, 2025, 11:58:27 am by Barmby Rover »
Just quoting from FL rules:
1. Procedure

At the moment of delivering the ball, the thrower must:
stand facing the field of play

The ball is in play when it enters the field of play. If the ball touches the ground before entering, the throw-in is retaken by the same team from the same position. If the throw-in is not taken correctly it is retaken by the opposing team.

It is impossible to throw the ball as Wimbledon did and not into play, they should never have been given the ball back to try again, it was a foul throw and should have been given to Rovers twice in that match.

The ball didn’t enter play so is retaken , regardless if he threw it incorrectly, a bit like if you drop the ball at release accidentally. It can only be reversed if it is in play, on that occasion it never bent in (I was sat in front of it ).

Speaking of Throw ins, we have been so shit at them this season, feel like we are the only team where we dont get into space, always long throws down the line!

I was thinking exactly the same about our throw ins. The amount we waste and give cheap possession away.

For that you could write last few seasons (we had some long throws for a while last season however)

The amount of people who sit near me that don't know that you can't be offside from a goal kick amazes me.

It's the ones around me who believe you're not offside even though you are offside

The amount of people who sit near me that don't know that you can't be offside from a goal kick amazes me.

There’s lot of things folks don’t know.  A defender takes a throw in towards the goalie, who is inattentive and let’s the ball go into his goal without another player touching it, the result is a corner.  Same situation attacking throw in, it’s a goal kick..

It also annoys me where a foul is given and folks complain there was no contact.  If I remember correctly, the laws say “trip or attempt to trip” etc, the key word being “attempt”..
