Easter Monday’s games for top 4
« on April 20, 2025, 11:47:18 pm by les@donr »
I don’t think any of the top teams have an easy game tomorrow, including us.

Walsall travel to Newport for an early ko. Given their current winless form, I think they will only pick up a point at Newport.

Bradford travel to Chessie, a potential banana skin waiting to happen, which we have painful memories. I think they will get a good away point.

Port Vale welcome Grimsby to their place.
Grimsby blow hot and cold, good away from home, less so at home. PV might struggle but think they’ve got too much for Grimsby. I think this will be a PV win. Saying all that, Grimsby could still nick a good away point.

Finally, Us vs Colchester. They are the inform team, it will be a far from easy game. They will give us all the possession we want, but will try and hurt us on counter attack. If we can break them down and score the first goal, I predict we will win, as they will have to open up and provide us with more goal scoring opportunities. However, if we are unable to break them down, I think the game could play out to a draw.

Just a simple bit of fun without over-analysing it, I think
Walsall draw.
Bradford lose.
Port Vale draw.
Doncaster win.

Your prediction would put us top of the table with 78 points PV second with 77 points. Both Walsall and Bradford on 74 points with Walsall third with a better GD.

Just need to do our own job and what will be will be. Walsall’s run has to come to and end at some point and I felt at our place on any other day would have beaten anyone in the league so, I know they have a performance in their locker. Given that it’s now or never for them it’s written in the stars for them to take it to the final game. Our performances and results at home have in the main been a real scrap for points and today will be no different. We need pedal to the metal and go all out for the win. If we wait for something to happen it will give them confidence.

Colchester could park the bus and giving us a game of attrition, where our midfield and forward line will get frustrated. We need to score an early goal to open them up. They need the points as much as we do, so it won’t be to their benefit to sit back. We have to get them in a position when they will have to come out and open up spaces for Street and Moly to run into and cause them problems at the back. To beat these an early goal for us is vital.

They are a very good side away from home. With our indifferent home form, this will be on paper another very tough game.

I’m getting messages from Grimsby supporters encouraging us to do them a favour.
I’ve suggested they do one for us and then we’ll do our bit!

Following their defeat to Carlisle, PV could be wobbling so it could be a good time for Grimsby to play them, and Grimsby need the points to.

Strange statement when you consider our home form is better than their away form

They have the fewest away defeats in the league this season.

Look at it this way dickos - the tougher you admit the opposition is, the more positive you can be about a win afterwards!

In the current last six game form table we are second to Swindon and above Port Vale courtesy of F12 A4 to their F13 A6.
We shouldn’t fear anyone on our day. Respect and be wary but don’t fear, let the opposition do the worrying.

They are very strong away from home. In their last 10 away games they have lost a single game (away at Bradford City) and have kept 6 clean sheets. On form, a draw would be a decent result and again a win would be a very good result. We demonstrated on Friday we can upset form of opponents. Colchester a different proposition to Tranmere.

If it finishes as it stands now at halftime, if we beat Bradford on Saturday we'll be Champions.

No we won’t. If Port Vale were to also win they’d still be 2 points behind and able to catch us.

I got Walsall, Port Vale and Donny right. Just Bradford draw threw me.

2 more Rovers wins coming up to finish the season and Sharp will be back.

Sharp might be back but I very much doubt he will be displacing Street other than as a late substitute.

Would be nice for him to score a goal in the last match of the season then ride off into the sunset.
