This Saturday’s games for Top 5
« on April 24, 2025, 12:23:42 am by les@donr »
This weekend games are biggest it gets. Promotion and Title winners are on the line.

I will leave our game to last.

Wallsall vs Accrington: This should be a home win. However, Accrington are fighting for their EFL lives, needing only a point for safety. They will be up for this game, and given Wallsall’s recent relegation form. I’m calling this game a draw.  That result will have significance for those above.

Wimbledon vs Port Vale: This won’t be an easy game for PV who have hit a blip in their form. Wimbledon will be fighting for points to secure a playoff place and they have excellent home form. Given the above information, I am calling this game a win for Wimbledon. This result will have ramifications for us and Bradford.

Rovers vs Bradford: No doubt the biggest game of the day for L2. Bradford will want to spoil our party on our patch. It is very clear that they will not want to allow our talisman to do his tricks, which he was able to do against Tranmere and Colchester. Bradford will use any means possible to stop Mols playing. I hope we have a strong ref for the game who will brandish yellow and red cards should Bradford go down the physical route on Mols. A few early yellows might persuade Bradford from kicking Mols off the pitch.
Bradford need the three points more than we do, this should make it an open game where there will be spaces for our midfield and forward line to exploit. Let’s remember that Bradford have only won five games on the road all season, that will be in the back of their minds.
I think if we can get an early goal, this will open up the game to our advantage. We all know the outcome for a Rovers win, promotion to L1 and if PV lose we will also be crowned champions
My prediction for the game given the above information, a Rovers win and promotion, and possibly the title to.

If Bradford are defeated and Wallsall get a draw, they will go third on GD and Bradford would drop to fourth.

Here's hoping we smash Bradford, Walsall win and Bradford fail in the play offs. Rather see Grimsby up than the chickens.

My call for playoff winners is Wimbledon. A team hard to beat and disciplined and will score goals.

I think Bradford will get third spot. They have an impressive home record. Last game they are at home to Fleetwood, I expect them to win this. Wallsall will be away at Crewe, which I can’t see.them winning. It will either be a draw or defeat for them.

It looks like Port Vale have actually been very unlucky in their last 2 games going by the stats.
In what has otherwise been a good run of form.

Wimbledon have actually been in poor form for a number of months now.

I think whoever earns 7th place in these last 2 games has a good chance in the playoffs because of the form of teams above.

I can’t see PV getting anything at Wimbledon this Saturday.

It’s actually a tough weekend for all of the top five. We’ve the momentum and home advantage, but Bradford will be up for it and I always feel like we have a big game hoodoo at home in recent times. Still feel like if we score first and keep it tight straight after we can do it.

I think Port Vale will kick on unfortunately, they’ve the quality and resources, and can mix it with the rough teams like Wimbledon. I think they’ll win.

Walsall is an interesting one, they’re flat as a fart at the moment, watched the first half and last ten v Newport and they were huffing and puffing without much quality. I’d like Accrington to keep fighting so heart over head I’ll go for an Accy win that sends us up!

I think
Us and Bradford draw
Vale win
Walsall draw.

I’m with les on this , I can follow his rationale and it’s exactly what we came up with on discussion earlier this week.

Jeez I wish I could be at this game …..good luck everyone and stay safe. Pubs will be interesting afterwards win, lose or draw - I just hope it doesn’t kick off

Us and Bradford draw

Walsall draw.

Good guess that, and it would put us up.

My rationale is based on logic and probabilities. At this stage of the season there are patterns to each club’s score and result. Last set of games I my predictions were correct. Will tomorrows all be correct, I don’t know. If I did, I could make bucket loads of money at the bookies. All my predictions all work in Rovers favour as they did in the set of games. This wasn’t a conscious decision. Only on reflection did I notice a pattern.

Worst case.

Bradford win.
Port Vale draw
Walsall win

Would put the top three on 78 points and Walsall on 77

Surely the worst case would include Port Vale winning?

I kind of meant that this scenario makes it a bit freaky and adds a bit more to the tension.

Can you imagine what it'd be like from 5pm Saturday until the next round of games.
Insane in the membrane

If Mols is given the space to waltz past defenders, I can see. Us scoring a significant amount of goals. In recent games they have been very leaky at the back, I’m sure Grant will exploit this by our forward line pressing their defenders into mistakes which we will turn into chances and goals.

I got two wrong and one right (ours). Though I was close with the Wallsall vs Accy result. I did say they would be up for the game, which they were. Wallsall continue in their relegation form. Well done to Accy. Outstanding result for us. L1 next season, bring it on, let’s go for another promotion.
