The celebration was then eclipsed by Billy’s winning goal… the roof came off!

I couldn’t watch it. Never taken my eyes off a penalty before but just had to look to the reaction of the rest of the crowd then I could look…….& yell!

What was their problem? It was a marginal penalty that they should have been made up to receive.

It looked like some of them were trying to get to our fans in the East Stand.
With regards to the penalty, it looked like one of their players wanted to take it but the 17 went over and took the ball off him, and then of course Teddy made the save.
Was the player holding the ball at first doing the thing of making sure no one scuffed up the penalty spot?

I think he out foxed the pen taker, he made a half step to the right before he went left

Had a good feeling once I saw a left footer stepping up. They just can’t take penalties.

Looked like the original penalty taker bottled it and gave it to someone else

Watch that penalty again and see if you can see Kyle Letheren's involvement. That save was a result of TSL's skill but also a huge amount of stats, research, technology, backroom work.  As the penalty was awarded, Kyle stands up (as he does for defensive moves), iPad in hand, looking who the taker was, looking at stats on the tablet. Then, talking directly to TSL, he turns his back, holds out his left arm at chest height, and waves his left hand. Then turn back to TSL. Then turns away again and repeats the left arm/hand-chest-height thing again.  Next thing, TSL is diving chest high to his left.

Yeah, TSL deserves credit, but please make sure we give the backroom the credit too - that save was borne out of hard work and research, as well as goalkeeping skill. That's why Kyle got massive praise from Grant and Cliff afterwards and sat down looking very pleased.

Yes that seems to been what happened.

No all teams do it now, they do not let the keeper know who is taking it, we did it a few times too, I think it was Molly who held the ball in the penalty area, the keeper tries his antics time wasting and then Joe stepped up to take it.

Feels like if I say something here it’ll be a whoosh moment so I’ll hold my tongue!

Not a good penalty but a good save regardless, and the cherry on an excellent individual performance for TSL.

This by jmt23 is exactly what happened, nothing to do with anybody bottling it. One of the team takes the ball and stands at the penalty spot as if preparing to take the kick and then when all of the dust settles walks away and hands the ball to the allocated kicker, been discussed on here before.

Teddy said in his interview after that he knew where their playing was going to put it based on all the work him, Kyle & the other keepers do on analysing the pen takers in the week leading into a game.

There is a video of the bench after the save and some big high-fives to Letheren from the staff and players. Obviously helped Teddy out with the research and Ted said as much in his interview. He still had to execute it of course!

I said to my wife, after the penalty was given, that I expected them to score, so I couldn’t be disappointed.

Of course, when it was saved I went f**king mental like everyone else did.!

If Bradford had scored that pen I’m guessing that there would have been plenty of clips on FB, X etc.
Has anyone seen anything, seeing as how it was saved.

Don’t know if this has been mentioned elsewhere but it looks like Chelsea want TSL to go to a championship club next season.

Yeah loads of stuff in the press, not sure Chelsea would comment so quick, I imagine either the agent or made up.

Does it really matter what league a keeper plays in compared to an outfield player?

If anything he's going to be busier as a keeper with us next season

I’ve watched the pen save many times now and each time I watch it, seeing the reactions of the Bradford fans does make me smile

Certainly rattled a few in the away end although can’t understand what the knuckle draggers were hoping to achieve

Looks like they just wanted to bounce up and down with their arms wide open. Fair play, they looked quite good at it.
