Centre half is such a vital position that we need really good cover for it, as has been shown recently. Tom Anderson has been a true rock for all this period when we have lost 3 others, alongside our most reliable player in ANY position in Bailey. We cannot afford to lose his services.

I'd rather put Tom's wages to signing Olowu, Tom's been a massive stalwart since he signed but the last couple of seasons he's been in and out and you can see that time is catching up with him. Games like yesterday where teams just lump it into the box is bread and butter but next season when we will face strikers with more pace then I'm afraid he would be a liability back there. Put Tom's wages towards signing Joe Olowu

It doesn't have to be either/or. There's room for both.

The one we should free up, or move into a coaching role, is Wood.

Anderson may not be the quickest but he doesn’t have to be - other players can provide that.

Anderson is already a League One play off player so there's no question about his credentials.

Boxing Day 2023 I’d have driven him anywhere that wanted him, what a player to bounce back and has been Mr Consistent since getting back into the team

Tom's performance over the last few weeks has made a significant contribution to your position. I watched him in one of his first games back and he was slow, being beaten by players, etc and I remember saying he should not play again. Lost it! I am so happy to be wrong. He got his mojo back and has been excellent. We owe him....

I think Wood has played his last game for us. He can't sustain league 2 now let alone league 1.

Tom is a tough one and it depends hugely on what else is available. McCann will know that more than any of us. If there's a couple of better cbs available then it's a different decision.

None of it though deminishes what a great player Tom has been. Sometimes it's been tough for him but that half season under Moore plus the last 10 games stand out as real highlights.  Much more good than bad and most of the good under managers who know how to play him correctly.

Hats off to him he just keeps on going.

If we are going with 4 CH in the squad next season I would keep him as back up. Obviously JM will be here, I would try and tie down JO obviously & then look for 1 other experienced CH who is already playing in Lge 1.

Really happy to see Tom come good at the right time, the whole team came good at the right time.

Never doubted the bloke. Would offer him 2 years in a heartbeat if it was up to me. Defensively dragged us through this run in.

The only downside to Tom is he suffers regularly from back problems

Tom has been excellent during these last few weeks.
Some difficult, crucial games and he has never let us down.

My heart always rules my head but I’d have him stay.

I know Street got the goals but Tom Anderson was epic today. He may not have the armband but what a leader he is.

Tom Anderson - The Arthur Shelby of Donny Rovers.

He's played some (Peaky) Blinders for us over the years, and continues to do so.

Legend.

Beyond his goal…

Edit - should add that Tom was brilliant, again, today.

Has to be said - Tom has been outstanding at the backend of the last two seasons. I, myself, have written him off a few times i don't mind saying but he seems to finish seasons strongly.

He could want to go elsewhere himself, and has played well enough to get another club.

Another great performance by big Tom.
He has formed a really good partnership with Owen, and since we lost Joe and Jay he has been a major contributor to getting us through what majority thought was going to be a very difficult run-in of games.
Unfortunately he’s always prone to the odd mistake mainly due to his lack of pace. However he has really improved playing out with the ball, really hope he does sign a new contract.

Done brilliant the last few games and has become a DRFC legend.

But it’s a no from me. Next season we’ll need better.

He’s obviously older now but he has performed at top end League One before. Olowu and McGrath haven’t. They could. But haven’t to date.

Absolutely over the moon for Tom, he has been on a journey over the years with us, played in some poor teams, & had injury setbacks. He so richly deserves to be part of this success, & looks like he's loving it.

Great layoff by Tom leading to the first goal.
Had Jatta under control throughout the game, and having just seen the highlights it looks like Jatta was offside for their goal.
I loved the comedy moment at the end when Tom made out that he couldn’t get onto the platform when it was his turn to lift the trophy.
He has been a giant for us in the games he has played recently.

I alluded to the fact in a post that Tom’s lack of pace would be his downfall in Lg1 however, I don’t think there’d be a more combatant centre back in that division than Tom.

He leaves nothing ‘out on the pitch’ & I was so chuffed when it was his turn to stand on that podium & lift the trophy above his head today.

A ‘true Rover’.

That was a really funny moment when Tom played the ‘old man’ routine.

What a top guy.

I'd be quite happy with Oluwu resigning, Jay, Tom resigning and Owen Bailey as our CBs. Bailey and Tom look a natural pairing, much like Olowu and Jay do (but in a different way). Tom and Owen read the game and position perfectly. Jay and Joe are more athletic and compete. There will be games next season where one or the other approach will be required.
