Looking at that even over the last 10 games conceding the least goals in the division has what’s pushed us on

As grant said in his interview afterwards, it’s a 46 game season and it’s not where you start, it’s where you finish! I can feel a song coming on, I must still be pished!!! This is why I love being a rovers fan, f**k the premier league!  :rtid:  :rtid:

After the debates and wagers on here over the last few months, I think the last two seasons have shown how unpredictable football can be, especially in the run-in, and perhaps especially for McCann’s teams.

Not sure many people expected us to get through the “tough run” of fixtures we’ve had up until now unbeaten. I’ve had my doubts at times given our record against the better teams over the previous months. But we’ve stepped up at exactly the right time. Fair play.

Picked up my winnings for promotion yesterday, hopefully I pick up more than that as champions. A great job GM and the lads, the last month or so has been a revelation of what the team can do. More of it next season please!

I haven’t looked at the stats but my thoughts are that most of the top teams will have picked up more points against the teams in the lower reaches of the division than they have against other top teams.
It just sounds logical to me.

There’s one particular form table we can all be delighted with.

It’s called the League 2 table, and after 45 games we’re on top and the worst we can end up is second.

That’s good enough for me.

(But I do agree with the sentiments above)

Wimbledon, Walsall and Bradford really have fallen off haven't they?

I'd sum us up as consistent and so hard to beat.  Everyone said we'd got a tough run, turns out the rest of them had it tough playing us.

I looked at it a few weeks ago and our record at that point against the top half was the worst out of the promotion contenders, by quite a way compared to some of them.

Port Vale have been very good against the top teams. They’ve beaten almost all of them once at least and IIRC their record a few weeks ago when I looked was something like 2ppg against the top half.

I think you can add Notts County to that list BFYP, their form doesn't look too good either!

Not really a fair comment, why be so inflammatory? I’m sure everyone that said that (and they were correct at the time) will be delighted at where we are now, we all have opinions, sometimes we might be right, sometimes wrong, thats life

We have been top of the form tables over the last 4, 6 & 8 games. That is how you peak at exactly the right time. Over those metrics only Port Vale out of the contenders have kept up with us but dipped to 6th in the form table over the last 4 games. Perfection from Grant & the lads!!

We couldn’t beat top half teams until about 6 games ago. We have timed our upturn in form to perfection (coupled with Walsall and others falling off a cliff). If Grant could replicate our end of season form from the last 2 seasons for 46 games we’d be unstoppable!

I don’t think it’s any coincidence that our form picks up and results and preformances, when we have a proper ball playing CM in our team, it was Craig last year, this year it’s been crew when he’s been in the team. I hope grant realises this is what we need as it’s integral to our team dynamics from the get go next season. It should be the number 1 priority

Good point that Arsenal.

A really good footballing central midfielder would be a huge addition to the squad for next season.

I put a bet on in the summer that ourselves, Birmingham and Leeds would go up as champions. It would have returned me £700.

I cashed out for £60 when Walsall were I think 10 points clear with a game in hand.

So you can all thank stupid me!

But I’m still just as happy as anyone else on here!

Our form against the top 7 wasn’t any worse than the rest of the top 7.
People just needed to hold their nerve, means nothing what the table says in Feb or March,

Was it about form or more about, belief, desire, bottle and tactical awareness?

Yet another season when come March, form means bugger all.

We’ve ended the season just about the best team in L2. “Of course we have we are top” they cry. Doesn’t always work like that. Port Vale are the fortunate ones. They certainly haven’t been the second best team in L2 this season. Far from it. Even their form in the last 8 games is poor. Very lucky boy is Dazza.

Only Bradford & Wimbledon have better home records than us (Port Vale are more than likely to go above us on Sat.). We have & will still have the best away record once the season ends.

Not necessarily true. We are the most likely winners of the title at this point.

I meant Port Vale will likely go ahead of us in the home record metric that doesn't mean they will finish above us overall
