Let's talk about how we got here

  Let's be Blunt, the single most singular thing that created the atmosphere and the clubs ability to go forward was MR Blunts disappearance from the board and the hands on overseeing of the club by Mr Bramall, it was the moment we had the freedom, finances , and ambition to achieve what every club in the division set out to do, win or gain promotion.
  A lesson that despite having a good football management team, the players and facilities, if the top of the tree is not fully committed then rest will find it difficult.
  We set off the season with a young side, and in important positions of keeper, the back four and midfield, while up front the experience of Ironside and Sharp promised being dangerous up front.
  Over the season the back four did ok, but the experience of Anderson got us over the line after losing our outstanding defender  Olowu, and Bailey also a big improvement. The young midfielders over the season especially Broadbent and of late Crew improved visibly with consistant games, and a young loan player in Street gave us mobility up front and scored goals.
   They all became the corner stone of the last surge to win the division after an abysmal game especially defensively at Chesterfield and a blip in other results in that period giving cheap goals away that had us looking off the pace and over our shoulders at clubs around us in at the time better form.
  Grant then backed the players in the shirt who had the run at the end of the season of better results, not being enticed to changes when winning games as players became available after injury.
  Vocally set out his ambition and determination to win the Championship putting the onus on the players to perform, and exuded confidence again publically in their ability to do so, in contrast to the managers at Bradford and Port Vale who moaned about decisions and injuries in most interviews, looking edgy and at times upset when interviewed and making constant changes to team selection.
  Our success this season is testament to an all round concerted effort of the clubs team including the back ground employees, creating the atmosphere of success on and off the field of play and putting the effort in to achieve, Its a massive well done to all, and thank god for that moment earlier in the season when our chairman took the reigns and gave people the freedom to do their joib.

TB took over officially a year last January/February time and made instant changes behind the scenes but it took sometime for fans to see the results of those changes, and believe we were on the right track. His additional finance with a more hands on approach enabled GM to put more building blocks in place, with the likes of David Rennie.

I think both TB and GM share a lot of respect for each others expertise and clearly TB has put alot of trust in Grant, which has now been rewarded.

when his horse amazingly won that ASCOT race with hindsight the cash he got was only about half a million not a full million as I thought -APOLOGIES FOR THAT !!

if Poptronic had not won that race he could still be with us - who knows !!!
by the way that Bluestocking horse he beat has improved like hell and must be worth 5 to 10 million for breeding but will never be sold  SM told us the SP about his shares at the time
 

How come he has 1/3 shares? Had he put X amount in? I'm fully aware Gavin has been given them for essentially the amount of income he's generated being here.

He did buy into the club, the shares weren’t gifted.

We can all say that TB persevered with Blunt a bit longer than most would have liked, but businessmen like TB don't just do these things in isolation, he obviously knew him better than any of us and i'd imagine he gave him an additional benefit of the doubt because of that. At the end of the day business is business and even someone like TB would have seen and had enough of the situation that was occurring, eventually stepping in to take over the role and allow us to kick on.

I don't know the plan going forward from here for TB but i'd imagine its being designed to allow us to compete at this new level and with the potential to push onto the next. It will be a big task for us to compete when you look at the teams in our new division but we've done it before under TB, i don't see why with the right building blocks being put into place it cannot happen again.

Good times, we as supporters need to keep our side of the bargain and buy into this fully to see it to its conclusion, its doable and that's the most exciting thing about it.

Absolutely agree 100% with that Donny Baz. I’d just add that we mustn’t ignore Gavin Baldwin’s role too. He sits between Terry and Grant and does a huge amount of work (along with his team). What a team we have on and off the field
