I can’t think of any shirt number in the Rovers history that ‘holds so much cudos’ to one player than that.

McIndoe 21?

Personally really dissapointed about this.

Could understand him going down south to be near home and his church etc. To sign for them.

Guessing money and/or duration was the kicker maybe, signed for 3yrs we offered 2yr.

Dissappointed

Why are you disappointed.?

He’d decided his time with us was up, he never said he was going down south.  The disappointment, if there is any, is his leaving us.

It doesn’t matter where he’s gone.

Have a feeling he won’t be ‘welcomed’ back to the Eco the way Teddy & Rob Street will be, especially Teddy.

Both left the club & supporters with ‘a proper’ farewell.

Dissapointed is a feeling and emotion it isn't measurable or reasonable. Not saying he is wrong, or I am right.....just that I'm dissapointed! As many others are. Mainly I wanted him to resign. Would be easier to come to terms with if it was down south or championship. But to sign for a northern competitor.....yeah, I'm dissapointed.

He had such a strong bond with the fans but I guess he wanted a longer contract with a higher base salary.

I also guess that Grant has his pay structure and ceiling to keep the squad on an even keel.

Grant made two offers and both were rejected so he made his position clear - he wanted him to stay.

I am compromised on this one as a player has a short career so has to look out for himself but the three year contract he now has surely we could match, given his age and performance trajectory. We've done 3 years for other 'big' names.

He's staying in the north so it's not location.

It must have simply been wages, win bonuses, clean sheet bonuses etc and I guess they are significantly higher than we could get to.

I'm normally pretty chilled with departures but this one has hit home.

Bitterly disappointed if im honest.

I'm.the opposite Phil. I wish Joseph all the best but we move on.

I'm more interested in this new PL defender.

I was passing the other day, so went in to see the white in the flesh & also see how the sizes were this year (medium is still a medium in that respect).
The idea was to wait on the release of the away kit & decide on that or the white keeper shirt, the white is currently going around in my washer, I love it & it's proper beer garden attire.

Good luck to the lad, if he thinks that they offer him a better way forward for his career then so be it. He may have made a mistake, we will wait and see. It isn't as if he let us down on the field. We move on too, we have two or three cracking young centre halves who will become as good as Olowu, and another coming in loan/permanent from the PL. The test will be to see how far up this league Rovers will be in comparison, I suspect we will be challenging his club, our defence already looks well geared up to Lg.1.

I agree, when Joe was being criticised on this forum about his so called injury and the fact that he had not given a proper farewell to our fans, I supported him giving potential reasons for the delay in doing so.
How wrong could I have been!
I don’t take back that he is a lovely guy, always gave time to speak to us and always very polite and respectful. Our last conversation just before he announced he was leaving, was that if he was going it was likely the majority of our supporters would respect his decision.
Thus I am not sure what response he will get now, just hope any response will muted and we don’t get any nasty verbal abuse.

The reason TSL and Joe have put statements out is to try and make it understandable to the fans, to kill any ill feeling - especially as they have chosen teams in the same league over DRFC.

We are back in league one which given our current attending fan base is where we should be.  These players have helped us do this, no flack should go their way.

Players come and go. It’s the nature of football. Both left in my eyes on a positive. Thanks for your time and effort. Good luck at your new clubs.

Why do some fans have to criticise or abuse players who’ve been loyal to a club and seen out their contract for taking an opportunity to advance their careers? If he’s been offered a chance at a potentially bigger club and higher wages as well why would he not take it?

There are always a few who will incite others to join in with any booing or abuse.
It happens, sadly

They've spent the last 15 years in National League and National League North, they're probably historically a similar size club, definitely not bigger than us. They may have some more ambition currently than us but not a bigger club.

Frankie how do make them out to a bigger club I suspect our attendances this season will be bigger than theirs. We can accommodate more away fans they average 1000 away fans in their ground last season. Their owners funded their rise from National league to League 1 so we will have to see what we do this season. By the way if promotion is to do with the size of the club you should have been out of league 1 by now. I appreciate you had financial problems and this season you appear to signing players to get you out of the league.

The only constant at any club is the fans. Not the chairman, the CEO, the manager, the staff, or the players.

Just the fans. That's how it is.

Stockport are losing around £7m a year financing their spending. That’s double the loss that we book.
