Newsnow has an article saying we are chasing him. He has been out with ACL injury/recovery and is a free agent. No.9? Possibly so.

Said last month he was a similar type of player to Street and might be an option.

https://www.drfc-vsc.co.uk/index.php?topic=286954.msg1395936#msg1395936

But on reflection now we’ve offered Sharp a new deal, I don’t think he’d be a good first choice option now with his injury record.

Report says Donny Northampton and Port vale have made offers.
He had ACL injury only played 13 games last year and scored twice.
When he did play more games he goals per game was low.

Street's goals to game ratio looked.poor until McCann got hold of him. Personally I'd have taken Hanlan but maybe two or three years ago. At 28 after an ACL injury there's a risk.

The sort of rumour I really hope isn’t true.

He’s a very good player. Maybe doubts about his attitude though.

His numbers aren't great, goal every 5 or 6 games.

Street, Ironside and Adelakun were prolific from the off for us despite not being before.
The correct attributes are way more important than previous goal returns.
Never get value for money signing players based on the latter because it’s likely they just fit the right team at the right time. You can’t just plug them in to another team and magically get goals.

He generally can't hit a barn door with a banjo. A big no thanks!

Not torn any trees up in past 4 seasons. Unless Grant can see past that & his injury I wouldn’t shed any tears if he ended up elsewhere.

If we are looking at him is it because we can’t get our No1 choices. I know it’s not mid June but the activity seems to have stagnated. I’m hoping this is just news talk and not a realistic proposition.

I would be fairly sure that activity has not stagnated, it’s just being done out of the public eye.

I was only saying the same thing last night with a mate about us not signing ppl.Last.year all our buiseness was done early. The lads come back in a fortnight for pre season. If I'm wrong and I hope I'm not it's going to be a busy few weeks if the signings r done before pre season

We were a big pull last season for players. Tougher market this season. Just going out and cherry picking targets won’t happen. There is lots of competition.

I will say if this is right then it’s a big step down from Street last year. As Gaz says there is a lot of competition in league 1 so let’s hope if we are missing out on our number 1 targets we pick the next best I’m not sure now wait and see what happens

It's funny as neither really has any successful striker we have bought in previously. Street for example had done virtually nothing. Some are asked to do different things in different teams and styles of play. Mccann is great at getting the best out of people. Who knows who the number 9 will be. Put it this way if they are scoring goals constantly more than likely they won't be signing for any team in division 1

Thing is, we didn't have Street for the first half of last season. There's always chance to add later in the season if we prove to be light in that department.

Hanlan is quick and can play wide too so if we loan out Hurst there’s still room for another attacker after him

You’d think he’d favour Northampton though because he’s only ever played for clubs down south

Northampton is way south of Donny and certainly isn’t up north but I suppose it’s north of Southampton!   :coat: :P

Unsure if this is real. If it is he's Hanlons agent. Has other clients too though.
