Jatta
« on June 15, 2025, 06:45:01 pm by ravenrover »
I'm putting this up but surely can't be true

From X
Doncaster Rovers have agreed a deal to sign Notts County striker Alassana Jatta for a fee of around £500k.

The Gambian scored 22 goals and registered 4 assists in all comps last season and is expected to sign a three year deal.

Medical has been booked.

It’s from a bullshit account.

Nah, never rate that. If we were spending 6 figures I could only see it being on Street or TLT, but doubt we are spending 6 figures on anyone.

Don't believe it for a minute,we would'nt spend that much on a transfer fee for him,not that I dont think the money would'nt be available if deemed worthwhile, but Im confident grant can get just as good players that are much safer for getting a good return from.

Grant did say we would not be adverse to a small fee to get the right player. I’m not sure 500k is a small fee for us though.

If this were to happen I will literally eat my hat. And it's a stetson.

Really hope not. He's not worth anywhere near that, particularly for us it would  seem an out of character signing when that money could be better spent. He looked poor both times I watched him last season and wondered what all the fuss was about.

It takes less than a minute to see the account that has been pushing that story and see it is total bullshit. If it were Alan Nixon or Pete O'Rourke then that's different. 500k is a massive amount for us. Doesn't take a genius to realise any fee of that level is highly likely total b*llocks.

Imagine Molyneux knocking set pieces in for Pearson, McGrath and Jatta!
A load of baloney though, as others have said.

Very unlikely I'd say but surely a player like Jatta would be transformational for us.

As others have said he pulled up no trees when viewed playing against us but he does have something that a manager like GM playing him in a system that we have would get more than par out of a player with his type of makeup.

Could this type be the final part of a strong spine trough the team?

I thought that Jatta was very good in the game he played at the Eco earlier in the season.

Your right danumdon, but it's the fee that would be needed that makes me find it very unlikely,GM has got us transformational players like Street,Adelukan and Wilkes before without big transfer fees.

I agree, the only issue was Street,Adelukan and Wilkes, as good as they were for us were only going to be available for the loan spell, If paying for this type of player got us a known quality player for a 3 year term say for example, in that period they could rip open a league for us and then still ensure we got a hefty sell on payment when they left for the inevitable "bigger club".

All ifs and buts i know but if we ever fancied really going for it then that type of a statement signing could give you a massive heads start.

After the notts county game, after we were crowned champions, we sat with some county fans in the little bar at the station and they were ranting that Jatter only puts it in when he wants to and is basically “A lazy b*st*rd who doesn’t give a toss”. Also that he just disappears for 4/5 games then pops up with a worldie. They were hoping he’d be gone before next season.

I know fans aren’t the best judges and their views can be tainted but he seems a bit of a luxury player and maybe worth a punt at £50k but half a million? No thanks, we can’t afford that sort of gamble.

Yes, I was thinking the same. A talented player but questionable attitude being very loose and disinterested at times. Not the sort of player we can afford to put up with.

Class player & would take him in a heartbeat to play in a McCann team, on the other hand not worth paying 500k for.

If we were after him, we wouldn't have signed Hanlon.

We don't need 4 strikers.

What a load of shite.
If we had that kind of money to throw at one player I’d rather it went Lincoln’s way.

Even their fans were saying after the final game how much more complete Street was than Jatta

Jatta is a level above Street. Much better player.
