No brainer for choice of Owen Bailey, & Sterry deserves the recognition after a fantastic injury free season.

A natural leader. McCann said he's always there. He seems to make people feel good about themselves. He's always one of the first on the scene to congratulate the goalscorer. Always encouraging and putting others first.

I did wonder whether the captaincy was affecting his own form but, he improved as the season wore on, paricularly when called upon to play centre half.

He might not be the best technical player we've got but he's worth his weight on gold.

The video he made last year when the squad were in Portugal was excellent too.

He’s obviously a right character, the joker in the pack but with a gentle humour that makes people warm to him.

You don’t always need a ‘shouter’ on or off the pitch to get players respect. ‘Lead by example’ is an often used phrase.

Players like Warboys (2nd time round), Foster, Stock & Rob Jones were the epitome of that.

A fantastic leader - always talks really well in the interviews and absolutely no-one can question his leadership credentials on the pitch. Demonstrates it week in, week out.  Obvious choice and 100% deserved. And Steery as VC is spot on, too.

A really good choice, he is well respected by the other squad members, it shows whenever they are informally interviewed, he is guaranteed to always put 100% in on any match and encourages others all the time.

Sure I asked this last season and can’t remember if I got an answer but… what is the record for an outfield player for starting league games without getting injured? I find his availability extraordinary and also worry how we will get on without him.

Aside from Bailey and Sterry, it’s only Molyneux who is a definite outfield starter for McCann and he’s obviously not suited to that. Quite a small pool of candidates, at least until all the incoming players prove themselves.

I think we can add Broadbent and Maxwell (fitness permitting) into that group as McCann's sure fire starters but as you say, it would take something out of the ordinary to displace those three.
