loan players out on loan yesterday
« on July 27, 2025, 02:22:54 pm by selby »
  Wlll Flint had a good 60 minute run out for his new club Gateshead yesterday who won the game 1-0;
Reports say he impressed playing as a central defensive mid fielder, protecting his back line putting a foot in, and playing the easy ball quickly when in possession, and looked good on the ball.
A great start for the lad who had only had a few days training and getting to know his new team mates.
Bobby got 25 minutes v Carlisle at Harrogate having played a lot more minutes in other friendlies than other defenders and did well. Carlisle took advantage of a weak defence in the first hour that looked slow and ponderous against a decent attack. the three changes including Bobby definitely made a difference with Harrogate  ending the game much better and missed a couple of chances one of which Bobby started the move with a good through ball.
Getting a report on the Peterborough Sports game and Sam Brown is difficult but a great result against Boston 1-0 with a goal that will please Grant as Bailey McCann scored the winner against the National League side which will have been great experience for Sam at that level.
Another interesting result was Buxton 3 Manchester City u21s 2 interesting because the Buxton side in the National North is mainly very young released players from EFL clubs who have played a couple of seasons in competitive men's football who would have been academy players with nowhere near the Manchester City exposure and expectations.
I am unconvinced that the present youth academy leagues are better than the old Central, Midland, Northern, and Combination Leagues where youngsters played reserve team football with older Pros. is a better development pathway.
Meanwhile down in Perth Australia mad Max Adamson scored his  9th goal in 6 games, can't stop thinking we missed one the day we let him go, but the lad has got on with it and has ripped it up in New Zealand last season  getting his side promotion, and this year in Australia has won the cup and has his team on the edge of a play off place scoring goals in all competitions and seeing the world at the same time.

Hi Selby,
Can you please tell me what club (or clubs) he was playing for here in New Zealand as I can't seem to find any records. Be nice to attend one of his games in one of my Rovers shirts but if he's in Perth it makes it a bit difficult. If he's in Perth's team they'll be a couple of games easy for me to attend here in  Auckland and fly the flag for Donny. Good luck Max.

Rich he is coming over here in October and is looking for a club while here. He is with an agency that places released players from academies if they shine in trials who place players in Asia, NZ, Australia, Arab states and the USA and is attracting attention and the season in Perth finishes in October.
In Perth he plays for a side called Kingsley Westside In the Western Australia League which are districts of Perth and Universities again I think their level 2.
Quite a lot of the teams in the division are of different nationalities Croatian, Brazilian, Irish etc and fetch young players over to play for their sides.

I've had a report back on Bobby as well. Fits in really well but likely to start as 3rd choice. Plenty of opportunity for games though so fingers crossed.

5minstogo, I have watched all the friendlies and the older players who admittedly have been there a while and might have done well for them in the past to me look shot 5to be honest with you.
On Saturday in the first half they never got near the Carlisle forwards and look to not have the legs to play the high press the manager wants to play, and look to be playing for themselves, standing off giving themselves time but opening up space the other team exploits. Its no good playing on the edge of your own penalty area all the time.
When Bobby and the other subs came on for the last twenty minutes the game completely changed.
The same happened against Barnsley, a couple of them never got near the ball.
Some might have been good servants to the club for quite a while but if they carry on it will be a big misteke IMHO.
They are not a great side, but some of the younger players brought in this season at least show mobility and effort and fit the system the manager is trying to play.

Will do .... I normally speak to his Grandad, my uncle in Norwich on a Sunday morning, he has found a way to watch their matches live, I will ask him to ask Robbie.

You are more than likely right but Im guessing the manager will stick with what he knows at least until the wheels start falling off. I think Bobby has done well enough to start but we all know managers live and die by their decisions. Lots of opportunities games though which is important
