The new Alfie May??
« on August 06, 2025, 11:10:45 pm by Albert Trousers »
Just having a look at the North East Counties results so far & notice a lad at Bradford side Route One Rovers called Zak Khan, he has hit 3 hat tricks in 4 games so far this season, not sure what he scored last season but he scored 36 the season before that, he might be 36 year old & just a great scorer or he might be in his early 20's & worth a trial, let's be honest our track record of bringing young strikers through has been woeful in recent years. If he is the right age I hope our scouts are at least aware of him, granted the level is not great & the gap is huge but he knows where the onion bag is!

Route One Rovers are one of those sides that started out as a group of mates who just put a side together and grew from there, I believe, hence the name.

Apparently not.  Mind, it is Wikipedia so it could have been edited.

Actually, I suspect that is the case.

Not wishing to burst any balloons here but in my experience Route One Rovers are a very unpleasant club with very unpleasant fans.

I have a Season Ticket for Steeton FC, my local team. Route One Rovers have been ground-sharing with Steeton for a couple of seasons and I’ve attended two games between the two sides.

The behaviour of the Route One Rovers fans and coaching staff at the last game was a disgrace.
This is grass-roots football, normally played in a competitive but friendly manner, with the very small number of fans of both teams mixing together and getting along well.

Not the case with Route One Rovers fans.
I felt so strongly after that match that I E-mailed the Chairman of Route One Rovers. I wasn’t in the least surprised to receive no reply, and I contemplated E-mailing the League but thought better of it.

As for Zak Khan, he missed a penalty in the game I saw him play.
He’s started this season incredibly well but this isn’t just a few steps below our level, it’s almost a different sport.

The ‘new Alfie May’?
Not a chance.

Route One Rovers play in the Northern Counties East Football League - Division One. They compete in the same league as sides like Armthorpe Welfare, Doncaster City, Glasshoughton Welfare, Maltby Main and Selby Town.

This Khan fella has scored his 20th league goal of the season tonight , not bad considering we are still in September & his team are mid table, not saying for one minute he's the answer to our problems but he can't do any worse than most of our strikers.

Zak Khan has scored yet another hat-trick today in a 4-0 win at Selby Town. He has 31 goals in 18 league games, plus 5 in 2 cup games!!
