I rate Ricky Charlesworth as a journalist, but he dropped a howler in an article today, saying that TLT will probably start tonight, because GM usually starts his number 1 keeper in cup games.

That's just not true.

Team for tonight is on Facebook. Sharp starts, so does Lawlor. Sbarra and Grehan in. Ironside is one of the subs

Ironside’s Dad is a former Boro keeper.

I don’t think we’ll be seeing much of the ball tonight!

Very good keeper for Scarborough by all accounts

I think senility is advancing Filo.... I am sorry. No idea how or why that happened....

Yes. I was asking you. Happuly, what you had is quite different to what's getting my attention. It's wierd. The quack had no idea though he said it's not heart, lungs or stomach. But it's been a constant for about 3 weeks now. Oh well...!

Many thanks

BobG

Bob, do you think you may have had a virus? There are a lot about. I had one about a month ago; I tested for Covid but it came up negative.

Apparently, there's a particularly nasty summer flu bug going round that's been putting people on their backs, and I was certainly on my back for at least a week.

It's left me with sore aching shoulders and neck, aching thighs and lower back.

It's harder to get over ailments at this age.

Hi Steve

I did wonder, but the truth is that actually I feel fine. Other than the rapid growth of stiffness and slowness - which is simply pissing me off - the problem is a vague, but persistent, sort of 'pain' right in the middle front of my chest. It doesn't actually hurt, but there definitely is something. When I visted the doc the best explanation I could give was that it felt a bit like having a mildish asthma attack. That causes a weird sort of 'pain' in that area provided it's not a serious attack when it gets much, much worse. But I'm not having an attack like that. I haven't had one for decades. I can take a proper deep breath. I haven't been smacked in the chest. I haven't walked into a lamp post.

It's not inconveniencing anything. It's not a proper pain. But it is simply there. And it has been for about a month now. Doc says not heart, lungs or stomach. It doesn't leave much else!

Gall bladder pain can be dull, Bob, however it’s just below the chest. Can be extremely painful depending on what you eat but then can be a dull persistent pain thereafter?

Excellent performance last night. Back to the day job today though. Wycombe won’t give us as much opportunity to break on them like boro did last night. They will come and probably let us have the majority of the ball and try and do us on the counter or from a set piece. Completely different game to last night and will give us a true sense of how good we could be this season. I’m expecting a very tough game and wouldn’t be surprised to see a tight score draw in this one.

Wycombe will have their hopes set higher than letting a promoted team have the majority of the ball. Their expectations will be play offs minimum as they have a big budget and were top of the table for a lot of last season.

They had the greater share of possession against Bradford and Stockport their first two games which ended in defeat for them.

They’ve just got £2.75m for Kone - a player they signed from the Essex senior league! Hopefully they don’t spend it before Saturday.

Thank you Alan. I hadn't thought of that.  Lol. I thought gall stuff was lower down! Never had a sharp pain, but  mild, dull and persistent  is a good description. Many thanks!

Every game poses different challengers, and the biggest one every week is the standard of our own performance and how we deal with the challenge posed by the opposition.
Last night, despite the changes to the team we had everyone on the field performing at 8's and the odd one above such as the keeper. that is fantastic and happens very infrequently to any team who are usually dragged along by at most five players playing exceptionally well, and the rest doing ok.
I am not expecting the same Saturday, but we can approach the game full of confidence in our ability to get a result, and hopefully the crowd are loud and proud.
Up to last week I was hoping that we could just hold our own and this season achieve mid table respectability, and would still be happy with that, but on last nights showing I could be really well off and underestimating our ability to do far better.
The big test will be when sides find a counter to our style of play, much like Birmingham did  and showed teams the way to sit back and counter our then style of play under Sod.

All the best Filo on getting back to normal and hope you get to the cause BobG. Had a stent 6 weeks ago – completely blocked artery. Cycle a bit and walk a lot and got bad chest pains as soon as I was giving it some throttle. Lucky caught it. Apologies this trail turned a bit into Dr Finlays Casebook....

Showing your age there acacia.  "Aye Janet...."

Just back from an hour workout class at the gym. Very fit lass gives all us oldies plenty of things designed to improve flexibility, strength and stamina. Knackered straight after, but feel good half an hour later. The sort of 'pain' still there but calling it a pain exaggerates it tbh. It's more a 'feeling'. Lol

Well, just when you think we might start to have a decent stab at naming a starting XI, McCann's gone and blown everything wide open again.

I think I'm back to naming  just three with reasonable confidence. TLT, Bailey and Molyneux.

The good news is Wycombe won't have a clue either!

Who, of the starting XI v Boro deserves to keep their starting spot?

The three who I would go for are Nixon, Senior and Gotts (depending on formation at the back of course)

Nixon was great but it’s early on in the season and he was out on his feet after his first full 90.
Got to factor in who’s got fresher legs.

Scawsby Steve beat me to it Bob; acid reflux was what I was going to suggest.
I had it on and off for years until it reached a peak and got diagnosed.
Medication has sorted it 100% for me.

Medication for an achilles tendon rupture is what gave me reflux for years.

Not had any problems since I started fasting. No medication needed.
