Honest, like his Dad. I think he knows that Rovers were better, just disappointed that they couldn't close it off after they scored. Good luck to him for the rest of the season, until he visits the Eco Power.

In this world of hot air and bluster, it’s refreshing to hear from someone like Nigel, just a shame he manages Mansfield.

I think he knows he's on borrowed time. Had an awful end to last season and hasn't started this at all well.

He's just signed a new 2 year contract in the summer.

Always liked him, I personally wanted him after Darren moore. But we went down a different route  :chair:

talking to their fans before the game they said even if they go down they don't want him sacked ,Last season they went 18 games without a win so unlikely to be sacked anytime soon

Average age of his starting XI on Saturday was 28 and that looked massively better than it should due to a 20 and 21 year old starting. Average age of his five subs was 30. He made all the signings and has a very lopsided squad.

They ran out of steam last year because the team was full of old legs. They will do the same this year (if they ever get any steam).  One of my relegation favourites, I'm afraid.

I overheard a very different verdict walking back to my car after the match.

A boy said to his Dad “We’ll just have to beat Chesterfield on Tuesday”
Dad replied “We won’t beat the Spirerites, we’re rubbish. He’s made useless signings and he should have gone at the end of last season”.

Mixed bag. Spoke to a few who have been realistic about it having been a bit of a golden period under Clough and grateful for it but thinking it might be coming to an end and others who were ranting about losing ‘to a very poor team’. Even heard a ‘likes of Doncaster’ comment.

I’ve heard that from Mansfield fans and that both teams are relegation candidates, grapes are very sour in those parts

That’s just reminded me of a Lg1 Yeovil v Rovers match very early in the season in 2012.
Pretty grim game lost 2-1. Both sides looked hopeless and I walked away thinking neither were going to do anything that season…..
Rovers went up as Champions and Yeovil were promoted via play offs. It was of course the ‘Brentford Moment’ season. Little do you know eh?

Hayter played for Yeovil Town that day and scored the opener.

He was long gone from both teams by then Bob
And yes James Hayter (legend) scored for Yeovil. Billy Painter got our goal, a consolation with last kick of the game.

We weren't amazing. We played much better after the subs.

Need to see way more in the striker position. Both games Sharp has been a massive upgrade.

Our attacking play has been better tonight. Nowhere near this Saturday. We have technically better players on the pitch tonight than Saturday.
