Congrats. Beat us without having to get out of first gear. We wouldn’t have scored if we played all day. We’re in a relegation battle no doubt about it.

See you in Feb.

Good win, could have been more comfortable had we taken our chances. And denied by the woodwork twice. Happy though.

That was a hard watch.
Two poor teams I thought.
Thankfully our two centre backs and keeper had good games.
Everyone else where underwhelming to say the least.

3 points tho, so that will do.

I’d argue Bailey, Nixon and Maxwell were far from underwhelming.

We put on around 1000 extra home fans today vs the opening game against Exeter. About 9k home fans in today.

If there’s one thing GM has to sort out, it’s how to put teams away when we get on top. Some bad luck and some very poor decision making today. Ajayi - what were you thinking, lad?

Deserved the 3 points, but we made hard work of it.

The Rotherham United official account says "over 2,500" today.

I’d argue Bailey, Nixon and Maxwell were far from underwhelming.

Agree, I thought Nixon had another great game, was really impressed with his skills going forward. Another good performance from Maxwell, so looks to be getting more towards his game we expect.
Bailey, well was very slow running for a ball in the second half, so got to get some improvement!!!

Some of the lads are looking a bit leggy at times, in fact the whole team was vs port vale. We do keep on digging away though.

I thought Rotherham were good when it was a long ball game, but as soon as the ball was on the ground we looked far superior.

Bailey excellent as always, that lad could play anywhere. Nixon was outstanding and probably man of the match for me, also thought O’Riordan was very decent, as was Timmy who earns bonus points for winding their fans up at the end. A bit more composure in the final third and we’d have had three. Our goal came from the one time in the first half we came forward with real urgency, it was a great team goal.

For me Broadbent dropping between the CB’s for the ball allowed him to dictate play, another great game from him

I thought Matty Pearson had a great game today. Other than one poor touch very early on he didn't miss a single header. Had a tough battle all game against a well built CF and he won everything. Oreardon was the same. Nixon quality going forward.

Could have easily been 3 or 4 nil. I enjoyed that today personally.

Their team had some big units, in fact one of the biggest sides I’ve seen in a while !

Broadbent has been good this season. However anyone can do that role. It's the rest of his game that's improving.

I thought we had 7 outstanding players out there today. Proper top of the table players. From Timmy up to Bailey and Broadbent. Then we get to the front four. Ok, Billy made the best of the scraps he was fed. Couldn’t do much else really. Not the mobile, physical striker we need though.
Middleton’s greatest strength was initially taken away from him whilst played on the right. He did grow into the game as it went on however. Love him on the left.
Then we get to Clifton and Gibson. Just not good enough. I couldn’t keep up with the amount of times they gave the ball away and how many challenges Gibson neshed.
With Moly back for Gibson, a serious striker and Gotts, Close or Crew in for Clifton we’d have a terrific side.

The two central defenders both played very well, both first and foremost no nonsense  defenders.
As a team we picked the second ball up better than Rotherham and were a lot more dangerous up front when the ball was played around there area.
Three points when the machine doesn't fire on all cylinders is ok, we look for better form next week and a repeat result, we are not going to play well every week, but we must aim to get a result when we are not at our best.
It's got to be a well done and keep it up, keeping Sheffield United away from our management team could be our biggest problem this season.

The full backs were ok going forward, especially for the 20 mins or so after we scored, but they faded 2nd half. They allowed too many crosses to come into our box. But we were really solid in the middle. I don't see how McGrath gets in front of Pearson after that performance.

Gibson didn't do well today, although he has been decent in other games.

I won't discuss Clifton though. Christ that moment down the left sums it up for me.

The back four were great today but the rest were pretty ordinary by the standards they’ve set this season.

Is like to see us start to create more chances, that the area we are lacking. We miss Gotts as Clifton is miles off it. Just not good enough to improve us in L1. We have to play someone else in the next league game.

So one moment makes him a bad player? Thought he was fine today.

TLT missed a catch and got away with it
Pearson just randomly belted it out of touch when he could’ve just passed it to someone
Nixon cleared the ball straight to their player when he could’ve just hoofed it downfield!

My point being stop focusing on the negative things the players do, they are league one players and mistakes are in every single one of them.

There hasn’t been much mention of Pearson so far this season, but he’s been solid as a rock every time.

Big upgrade on Anderson and Wood.

Come on. Clifton was awful today. Largely anonymous and when he was in possession added nothing. Your comparison to others is just incomparable, they had the odd bad moment but offered plenty otherwise.

Not at our best today but showed some real resilience & togetherness to grind out an excellent 3 points.  Big shout out for Tom Nixon today, after a shaky start I thought he was brilliant.

Okay nearly every moment he has the ball.
